Have fuel gauge issue, non working has fuel light on. Tested tank module with new unit, did not install. Plugged the module in and moved the float an nothing. Had dash unit tested/rebuilt. Rebuilder confirmed fuel gauge problem, replace gauge motor an no fix. Suspect maybe board crack. replaced dash clusted with dorman reman, same problem. The tank module did however operate the rear pump when in the empty position. Help with test procedures and suggestions in laymen terms please and Thanks 04 chevy duramax automatic

If the rear sender has the fingers broken off it'll cause an intermittent open circuit, a code to set, and default the gauge to empty. If you plugged in a new unit there is a possibility you needed to clear the code for the cluster to start working.

PCM has no codes, the rear tank only has 2 wires, it has a pump so I assumed it has no sender. The front tank sender controls the rear pump, with the front sender unplugged the rear pump is activated. We have omed the wires an there are no open circuits. Also when we tested with the new sender with the float in the empty position the rear pump was activted. Im sure Im overlooking something. Thanks in advance for assistance. john

My bad, my truck does in fact (as you already know) have a rear sending unit. The transfer pump is on the frame rail.
