Fuel filters cut open, what do you think?

I never intended to have 3 filters, but after being stranded at -13 at 1:30am because of a gelled/iced filter, I decided to get the lift pump with fuel heater. I was running the Donaldson P553203 on the CAT adaptor at the time. I haven't have a problem since and I have great filtration.

Diesel fuel is inherently dirtier than gasoline, and your Donaldson is so dirty because those FS filters you're running don't have a very fine micron rating (most separators don't), and the Donaldson is taking the blunt of the dirt.

They're dirty, but not bad. When the element collapses you went too long
Maybe run some antimicrobial additive but I don't see it being an issue.

FYI Fleetguard is built to "Cummins' specs" because Fleetguard IS "Cummins Filtration". One in the same.

About a bazillion websites need to changed, the CAT IR-0750 filter is not a 2um more like <4um, the black stuff is not dirt it is asphaltenes.

Thank you. I've often thought about doing away with the CAT and running the p553203 on the factory head. If the lift pump fails and bypasses I would be running without a water separator with that CAT filter. I think the Donaldson is a 3um which would be better than the CAT according to your link.

I don't run additive in the summer but in winter I use Schaeffer's Diesel Treat 2000.
