We've changed the fuel filter, filled it prior to installation, it started and ran for a minute and stalled.Seems as though the primer will not pump up and get stiff. I put fuel in the primer vent and tried to start, it runs for a few seconds and stalls. Even put the old filter back on thinking the new 1 was damaged. Still can't get it running,HELP.

Open the bleeder screw and pump the primer until fuel comes out. Put the bleed screw back in and pump the primer another 30 times. Go and turn it over for 15 seconds. Then pump the primer another 30 times and let the starter cool for 1 minute and then turn it over for another 15 seconds. It should start up on the 2nd try as it sounds like you didn't prime it properly and airlocked it.

Something seems wrong with the primer. when I pump it fuel comes out and then nothing but air. almost as if when the primer returns to the up position it sucks air in

There is a rebuild kit for the primer if that is the issue. You should also check the 2 small rubber lines going to the filter head, it does not take much air sucking in or fuel leaking out to cause a NO START...

Still sounds like when you prefilled teh filter and poured fuel into the bleed hole, you airlocked it. Take the bleeder screw out and pump it a few tiumes and see if you start to get a good stream of fuel. Many times what can happen is teh check valves inside teh primer pump can start to leak by some, and when you take the filter off it lets teh fuel drain back to the tank. When you prefilled teh filter you are only pumping the fuel out that you put into the filter, but you still have a feed line full of air before teh filter to contend with. I would take the filter off and drain it, then put it back on and start pumping it and see if you can get fuel up to the bleed screw. If you can';t then you will probably need a filter head rebuild kit. I still think you airlocked it by improperly bleeding the system.

Either the lines or the primer or the filter o-rings are letting air in. Do you have an auxiliary pump installed? Hmmm hmmm
