Only when in 4wd. The disconnect in the passenger side axle is disengaged in 2wd.

x2, dunno how the little needle bearing that was mentioned before will wear out quicker as both teh diff and pass. axle will be spinning the same speed every time due to the driver front axle turning the diff and driveshaft till you turn. so i guess if you race nascar in your truck you would have to worry about it then.

On a lifted truck with a stock driveshaft i would NOT weld the carrier up if you DD.

Sweet, glad the way I thought the differential worked is completely wrong lol. Guess I'll sport a miller locker in the front and mini spool out back.

I've had an ARB in the front of mine for 2.5 years now. I bought it used from Stingpuller, and it is still working perfectly.

Well I kept my elocker and it survived the season of 6 pulls and not one at full power because my injectors were junk. Looks like I'll see if it lasts through next year. If not I may just weld a stock carrier. Or look at spending the money on a Miller Locker.

What are everyone thoughts on going to a mini spool for the rear end on a street driven truck? Otherwise I was thinking of a Grizzly locker.

You can't beat a spool or welded carrier for traction, but if nothing else, get a auto locker. The ability to turn is priceless. I have been running a selectable lockers in my Jeep since 07 and will never run anything else ever again. The detroit would better serve you for a street driven truck if you frequently need a locked rear end. If you have the money, and spend more time needing an unlocked rear than a locked rear, a selectable would better serve you.

Glad to hear about the electric locker, I have been wondering about them, I have never seen one in use myself but I have thought it would be easier to set up than an ARB due to only needing power.
