Front end upgrades

Got an entire used Kryptonite front end if anyone is interested.. centerlink, tie rods, idler arm, idler mount, idler brace, Cognito UCA, DHD brace...

so do you recommend stock center link or? hows the ppe centerlink and idler and pitman arms work on the street?

The ppe is a straight center link, so... It's going to scrub some when turning sharp and you will loose some turning radius. It didn't bother me but everyone is different. The Full Kryptonite kit is going to be the best of both, great strength and control over the steering in all conditions with decreased scrub while turning. If your going to upgrade the steering then I don't see the point in running something else. And to be clear I'm talking about the link with the offset tie rods ends, keeps the ackerman steering somewhat.

Fwiw the kryptonite is great, but it will still roll back and bend that death grip idler's stud. I added the dhd brace after mine rolled. I also added their lca frame connector. Seems good again!

I have the cognito braces and they work fine, i've considered switching to the dhd brace. If i were starting over i think i would start with the brace.

Are you using their tierods or just the centerlink. Curious if their centerlink will work with other manufactures aftermarket tierods

I have their tie rods. But you can also run OEM tie rods with it. I did that before I bought their rods.

Wonder if it would work with rare parts tierods. The centerlink is tue only thing kryptonite makes that I would ever be interested in because their stuff is so overpriced but the centerlink is a nice piece. After I saw your thread with the centerlink and dhd brace together I was sold

You'll likely need the end link that mates the kryptonite to the OEM tie rod.

I rebuilt my front end in January 2016. I used the following....
1. Kryptonite tierods
2. Kryptonite ss centerlink (added 6 months later)
3. Kryptonite sway bar links
4. Rare parts idler/pitman arms
5. DHD brace
6. Kryptonite lower ball joint
7. Moog upper control arms
8. Rancho steering stabilizer
9. Energy suspension poly bushings
10. Moog idler bracket
11. Rancho 9000 shocks on all 4 corners
I might have forgot something too.

Now....what I wish I would have done is
1. Kryptonite idler bracket w/weld in gusset
2. Kryptonite upper control arms
3. Decent steering box...I replaced it with a rebuilt unit because the old one had a growl. New one has way more slop that the original did! I adjusted it knowing the warranty would go bye bye and now this one growls bad too...lol

I added the centerlink later....I wish I would have done it earlier! That made it a whole new truck, get very little steering wheel feedback when hitting bumps, railroad tracks, potholes...etc etc, and lost no noticeable steering radius. I was told it would be 3-5 %.

I know alot of guys think kryptonite stuff is over priced and everyone has a right to their own opinion. I really like the kryptonite brand stuff, best warranty in the business. I'll gladly pay good money for quality parts especially when their warranteed forever no matter what you do.

Thought you could only use their tie rods with their link?



Their rods will work with the factory center link, the only think I had to change on mine is tapping the grease zerk thread on the centerlink because you have an actual bolt that holds the tie rod to the link and a brace that goes around it comes with a bolt that goes into the hole that was originally used for a great zerk.

I run a cognito center-link and tie rods(cheaper than dmax store's set-up, iirc under $700 shipped), ultimate ilder arm and rare parts pitman arm and have a custom auto4wd system that gets used regularly on mine as a hot street truck- 4k miles on this setup and I'm not easy on it and I have virtually zero play in my steering.

I've did a few tests of 2.5k+ rpm launches in Auto and I can control it with 1 finger.
