Fried ECM/TCM

So I think my ECM and TCM are fried. I just finished installing a; danville 72, hsp manifolds, up pipes, intercooler tubes, intercooler, injectors and a ppe dual fueler. I sent my ECM to danville to be tuned, switching from korys just to try something different. Truck was down all of June until last week.

Batteries were out the whole time, I hooked everything back up primed the system and got it started. I got a P166c code on my autocal, reduced engine power, change fuel filter and service battery charging system. It was late so I left it for the night. Came back the next day and replaced the pressure and return flex lines that come up into the engine bay since they were collapsed and thought that's why the change fuel filter kept coming on, no luck. The P166c was for air intake heater which I thought may have not been turned off in the tunes.

Took the truck down the street and cleared the codes, all came right back. As soon as the rpm's hit 2000 I lost all of my gauges including oil life, trans temp and so forth in the DIC. Shut the truck off and tried to restart and only had eccentrically power, didn't even try to turn over. Let I sit for 5 min head some clicking in the engine bay, tried it again and it started back up. Gauges came back but still had same codes/problems as before.

The next day I started it again let it warm up, same problems as before revved it and same thing with gauges happened. Shut it off hooked up the autocal and was receiving u0100 and u0101, cannot locate ECM/TCM. Couldn't read or pull tunes, cleared codes a few more time and still no start at all. Unplugged everything, batteries, harnesses on top left of motor and ECM/TCM. Let it sit for 30 min hooked it all up and still only had electriclal, nothing when turning key to start. Then I started to receive $0281 vehicle cannot be located.

I took the batteries home got one charged and tried it yesterday and no change. Only getting $0281. I sent the ECM/TCM to mark at danville today. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks

By chance is this the same truck you had hooked the battery up backwards on and popped the main 175 amp fuse?

Same truck lol, but the problem was exactly the same before that happened. I'm going to check the starter and ignition switch. I'm pretty sure the TCM is shot just from doing research about them getting shorted out. Hopefully it's something simple I'm over looking.

Here's what I'm going to check before I hear back from Mark.
Ignition/starter switch, ignition relay, neutral safety switch, starter relay, and starter. Ill post up my findings, always open for any ideas on what you guys think, thanks.

Check the harness that comes out of the bottom of the fuse block to make sure you don't have a rub-through from the fender liner.

I looked through there Monday and everything looked alright. Spoke to carl at Danville today and he said that when they plugged my ECM into another truck it did the same thing. They reflashed it and tried it again and it's good to go. I'll have it back tomorrow and will further look at the truck before I put it back in. I really hope it's nothing else I hate chasing wires.

Yeap, Tcm was fine but ECM got scrambled and I'm guessing it didn't like the voltage spike. Reflashed it and truck here in shop fired up fine without codes so your lucky there buddy! Hopefully you don't have anymore issue with the truck and it works fine for you!:thumb:

Looks like you need to find out if the BCM got fried in your voltage misshap. Pretty much the only thing you have left that was not checked or verified yet.

Got her goin, truck runs awesome. Huge thanks to Mark at danville, Tark "detailsunlimited", his guys at Fleece and Twisted Diesel for helping me get this thing together and going. Great guys to deal with for sure. Also thanks to everybody on here as well.

The problem was the black engine harness connector on the motor wasn't lined up even though it was clasped shut, I even unplugged and replugged it multiple times and a fuse in the fuse box that goes to the TCM. Something's I overlooked and Twisted Diesel found. So glad it wasn't anything serious.
