Freeze plug in up pipe

Quick question for opinions. Will an engine freeze/soft plug hold the heat of the up pipe. I cut my egr riser off and welded in a fairly thick engine freeze plug. The weld didnt melt it. Opinions?

Lol well our mig sucks at work but yea two flat pieces its golden but not in this case also what do you guys think about the exhaust turbine wheel... Looks like the spot where you can hold it with a socket is like ground down And when i cleaned the exterior of the turbo you can see some brake clean seeped in somewhere

When you cut the riser off all you have to do us cut a slice out if the discarded piece and it will fit perfectly.

this. best way I found. cut riser off, slice riser in half and weld it back on.

and hey, you don't have to be a good welder, just a good grinder
