I'm going to order a new FPR for my LLY engine, I was wondering if anyone has changed theirs and while taking everything apart do I need to order gasket set for all of the pieces I will be removing. Thanks

I think the only gasket you'd have to worry about would be on the Tstat housing, that is--if you remove it in the first place. I cant think of any other gaskets youd deal with.

Yep. IIRC, I moved the AC commpressor, took the turbo mouthpiece off (and all related intake piping), drained the coolant down and took the black upper coolant pipe off, and then used a 2-1/2" long torx bit (forgot the size) on a 1/4" ratchet to unbolt the FPR. Be careful not to strip the torx bolts out.

Im sure someone else will pipe in on their procedure.

I swapped mine to a Superdiesel Modified one. Nothing was wrong with my old one. It helped me keep rail pressure high (22500+) when drag racing.

Oh ok, my truck at red lights is surging and even when ideling in park it will run smooth and then just idle up and down. Sometimes it runs smooth though. Do you think it is the FPR?

Yep. You dont have a lift pump on it, do you? Have you tried some additive or Walmart 2stroke oil to see if that helps?

completely stock, I have 188 k on it, and yes I have tried all additives nothing seems to help I think my fpr has been going out a while. It used to do it just ever once in a while now it pretty much does it all the time, some times worse than others.

Yeah...sounds like you're to the point of replacement. Its not hard to do, just a lot of stuff has to come off so you can get at it.

Changed FPR today and cleaned up all of my intake stuff, the intake had 1/4" of crap caked on it from the EGR. I blocked EGR off last week and today rerouted my PCV. Ok back to FPR changing, it was not too bad, my truck is back together and running like brand new again. My truck has 189 k on it so I went ahead and changed thermostats while I was in there. Thanks for the posts, you guys were right on with diagnosis.
