Well the other day one of my buddies said there was an 03 duramax motor for sale on craigslist. So i checked it out and after some thinking, i decided i might as well just buy this motor, and slowly build it for pulling, so when the day comes that it is finished I can swap it in, and still have another motor sitting around.

He says it has between 211,000 and 220,000 miles on it, the injectors were just replaced, and it supposedly has a bad valve.

It comes with everything except the FICM and the FRPV.

He doesnt think its a fed emissions motor. Seemed like a pretty nice honest guy when I talked to him today.

Anything else I should question him about?? Is he asking too much???

heres the link

Thanks guys

what price do you think is a fair price??

I guess I really dont know what they go for.

Now that I think of it, diesel power (the member not the mag) was selling LBZs with low hours for $3,800 so the price on this LB7 sounds a little high.

There is an LLY for sale not far from here for $6500 with tranny, sounds a little high too.

It depends on what is ment by a bad valve. I think its a little high for a motor with that many miles and a problem. Someones idea of a bad valve could be a hole in the piston, hole in the head and screwd up cyl:confused:

so I should offer this guy $1,500. To me it doesnt matter what the issue is as long as the heads and block themselves are still salvaged able. The whole motor will be rebuilt and machined back to specs as well as getting a very stount bottom end.

The only problem with that is my boss has more in it. He has to have the $2200 for it. He bought it along with the 8 LBZ and LMM's. We might be able to work something out if we can keep the injectors or if someone wants them as cores...

You can get the last 8 of the vin off the read adapter plate and run a vin check on the motor to see what the history has been and approximately how many mile it may have or ballpark
