A 9" will hold, but I vote 60. Stronger parts with great aftermarket support. Also just as easy to work on as a 9". Building what you want is gonna cost you about the same for either one.

The ARB will not hold up if engaged under a load. Seen it happen.

If you are going to dive off into narrowing axles and making a custom set-up, why not build a 609? Then you'll have exactly what you are looking for:thumb:.

Mike Wood's 9 second Dmax powered Mustang runs a 9 inch from DTS. Just a touch over 500 RWHP.;)

iirc
is it not a 40spline with a spool or detroit though??

far cry form a 31spline mild 9" which would be weaker then a stock 60 with 35 splines

biggest prob with the 60 is the tallest gears that i have seen are 3.54s

I really think a 35 spline axle will hold what I'm doing the only problem is the 9" requires some sort of locker over 31 splines. The only opion I see is the arb and from what I can find on the Internet about it they are hit and a miss due to tooth engagement on the 35 spline model, spidertrax makes a suposed fix for it but I can't justify $200 for something that may or may not work when I can step up to bigger beefier rear and run a full time limited slip and leave the switches for the off road guys. Blue I will do some research on those two axles u got and see about getting one from you if I canget the right gears for one. I am looking to run a 3.27 or 3.55 gear although I have thought of 3.73 and a gear vendors but that 5r110 is taking up alot of room already.

I have been searching and searching and really cant justify the $1000 for the ARB air locker as well as have possible problems from it and I dont think I will have much fun with a detroit locker or spool on the street.

All of a sudden $2200 for a complete Dana 60 (minus brakes) from strange is looking pretty good LOL.

I have a complete D60 full floater. It has disc brakes with calipers and rotors from a '75 Chevy 2500 front end, stock 35 spline axles, and a new trac-lok diff. Only problem (for you) is it has 4.88 gears so you would need some gears and a new diff (4.10 is the break point). It's in my Bronco II and everything in it was new 3 years ago - I put 1000 miles on it and it's been parked since. New calipers, rotors, all new wheel bearings, new carrier and pinion bearings, new diff, new gears.

Is that a typo or r u messing with me? 9 sec? 500 rwhp? Ur talking about the nx stang?

I typed my specs into a 1/4 mile calculator the other day and it said high 9's and I laughed at it I figured no way with only 550 hp in a 4000 pound tuck.

500rwhp;) = Sarcasm.

It makes way more then that without the spray.
