can i reuse mine? i know my gm manual says to replace, but can i use them? if so, what method of torqueing do you use when the motor is out of the truck. how do you hold the motor down while torquing to keep it from moving around? i know the ones i have now are stretched. once used are they stretched too much to use again? what about using loctite and torquing less?

thanks!!

They aren't very expensive. Just replace them and be on the safe side.

x2

I used two small jack stands on each side under the motor mounts wile it hangs on the hoist for the flywheel bolts and ofcouse do the crank in the truck:D

IMO you can reuse the crank balancer bolt. Ive never had a problem.

honestly, how many of those balancer bolts do you guys think get replaced when a dmax goes in for a water pump??

definetly replace the flywheel bolts though

Like Ben said I reused my balancer bolt, Bot replace the flywheel bolts. All the Tq specs aree in the Gm spec are with the vin checks. Also if you do get a new balancer bolt Gm sells 2 differnet ones.the ones for the older trucks use 278 lb ft tq the newer ones are 74 lb ft tq then 2nd step is 105 deg Angular Tightening Method
The flywheel 14mm hex bolts are 58 lb ft tq the 2nd step is 60 deg Angular Tightening Method and 3rd step is another 60 deg Angular Tightening Method

I'm taking my balancer off to put the water pump on and I'm not familiar with Angular Tightening method. Should I borrow one of these wrenches or is 278 ft/lbs fine?
