I bought my truck used and have never owned a dura-alli before so this is the first time I have changed a spin on filter. I dont know what the fluid in the filter should look like but I thought it was a bit dark and there was alot of metallic sludge around the magnet. Ive limped once but the guy who had it before me had a predator and thats all I know.

Looks about normal too me. I also bought my D/A used and when i changed my tranny fluid the first time and changed my spin on i also had a little bit of crap on my magnet. I have since changed both a second time and had very little debri on the magnet. I think your good to go!!!

I change my spin on with my oil, every 7,000mi. I have the same amount of metal on my magnet everytime I change the filter, from the first to the 7-8 one I'm on now.

If you haven't already done it, I would change the in pan filter and oil as well. But it doesn't look bad to me either.
