Well Saturday I was going to the island (Port Aransas) to check out the tourists and of course when on the ferry you have to shut off the motor, when I tried to restart there was a loud clunk, I though to myself it sounded like the starter just fell off, well after clearing everyone else off TXDOT pushed me off of the ferry with a battery operated pusher, after the wife came and picked me up we went home and got the 1ton and trailer, with 5 trips total 225 miles and we had her home, oh yea, the starter did "fell off"
I guess it got damaged when the donor rolled with all the motor/transmission mounts broken and just waited until the most embarrassing time for the DuraVee to fail..

what state are you in? These things are dirt cheap on iron planet but they seem like a hassle to make street legal

I am in Texas, Texas has a waver for any Humvee having a GVWR of 10.000lb or less with no restrictions on license plates, all you need is the SF97 from IP, the SF97 does state "off road only" but that does not make any difference here. The later models with a GVWR over 10K have to get "collector" or other plates that supposedly have restrictions.
It seems the more left leaning the state is the harder it is to get plates, IL, and CA are a couple of the worst.
