I almost bought the STS tires, damn... I took a look at what the SuperStock gas rigs were running and it was the boggers, so I went that route.

Curtis- I'm still running stock 3.73 gears, M 3rd 4lo. I drag the truck more then hook. If I were to put the 2" blocks back in, my hitch ht. would be 21". I could build another hook to gain the needed 26", but it would be about 1' further back from the diff. Then it is now. With the stock hitch moved forward 1', and the 4" block, I put about 2.5" into the block to get the 26" hitch ht. what do you think would work better, level truck with hitch 1' further back from the diff, or wedge with hitch close to diff? Below are pics, so you can better see what the suspension is doing.

If your willing to give it a try I would. I have found that lower rear ride hight tends to not lift the front as high. Have you tried pulling 4th gear? It could be as simple as not having enough wheel speed? Not sure what your power level is? But its a pretty good jump up in wheel speed going to 4th.

Best bet would be sts' it made a huge change in my truck, like jakebrake said it dropped 400 rpm going down the track and gained close to 40' on out tracks. Idk if it will be as big of a difference for you, but it will make one. Also don't drop your front all the way leave it up some so when you take off it levels out, I've found that's where my truck likes it the most.

Lol, it sure is!! It's a rodeo ring that they pull on a few times a year.

I'm going to go back to the 2" block, strap the frame solid at static ride ht, and fab a new hook up. I'll test her out this weekend, thanks fellas.

Spring clamps help too if you don't already have them. They will lower you ride hieght a touch as well. then put you suspension stops in and strap her down against the stops.

This is some awesome info guys. He did say his truck was mid to upper 660hp range before the dual fuelers. Think u could get away with 675hp and go to 4ththe gear? Kinda really similar set up i will have till my motor is done.

I used to run clamps front and back, but didnt have a hopping issue with them off, so they never went back on. Ill put them back on this weekend. I'm going to try 4th on the next loose hook. I don't think I have enough power on a tight track, maybe with a conv unlock who knows. Hey Ben ;) ....

our ws truck hooks great and all the way we set our rear up is clamps on the springs, traction bars, we put the ballast on her, set the hitch height to 25" then use our adjustable blocks to raise the rear up 1" to get our 26". for the front we take the bolts out and just run a straight link and sleeves. goes straight every time. do have an e locker and grizzly locker as well.

If the tracks have hard soil/clay under the loose sandy soil, I'd air the tires UP. This will cut thru the loose stuff better & get down to the tight stuff. The aired down tires on loose tracks won't let it eat through to the good stuff. Just my opinion from the very few times I've been around horse arena pull tracks (very unusual here as most tracks here in KY hook very hard but there are a few backwoods places that lack).

IMO your setup doesn't seem terrible so I think it may be very hard to gain the 10-15' you talked about simply by setup changes. Big gains via setup are usually seen when going from no setup or poor setup to good setup. Them sure, big gains can be found. Not so much when going from good to better.

If most of your tracks are going to be loose w/ nothing very solid underneath, those boggers are probably going to be hard to beat? If there's tracks with some hardness to them though, less aggressive tires generally do better. You don't want to eat through the good hard surface and the aggressive tires can/will.

4th isn't going to work with stock gears w/o more power unless it's loose IMO. If you're hitting 4500 & climbing hard still at half track or sooner, bump er on up to 4th but you'd most definitely want an tc unlock switch if you do.

i used to run boggers up here in new england because all the gas guys do too but i never got them to work i think they work well on the gassers because they're 2,300lbs lighter where the weight isn't sinking them down and making them dig more the tire is working more like a paddle for them where as the weight of the diesel i think its making it just dig. there was a kid up here who has a 06 lbz same color too that ran 4 boggers couldn't come near us guys up front...he switched to sts's end of the year and was in the mix every week...i'd try borrowing some sts's or even duratracs i've found work well on loose stuff too
