I thought this was already debated? If you take a dmax into the dealership with engine trouble, they go to the TCM to check input torque history to see if the truck has been tuned. You would have to change both to get away with keeping your warranty. Buy a used truck and save the money if you are worried about having to pay for warranty work, they are not supposed to warranty the crap most of us are getting into. :thumb:

You could probably get away with it on the gassers, they don't have a seperate TCM that I know of.

The newer one use both an ECM and TCM.

CVN,s are calibration verification numbers, these are basically the individual part numbers of all the "tunes" in the ECM. Your best bet if your going to roll the dice is to purchase both an ECM and TCM and have them flashed to your stock tune by a dealer or someone with a tech 2. GM has the ability to check all the way back to '05 for improper tunes in a ECM. A second play truck is actually the best way to go......

History Jason?

If they can check to see for a mis-matched CVN I don't see what that really matters anyhow.

I did and have looked at several Henry, and it still wasn't very clear to me. That and several people on other sites were arguing that only the LMM were the ones affected. I always thought that back to the LLY was included in this by reading the TSB's.

Robert the super technician just confirmed it for me is all!!:D:thumb:

Whoa whoa whoa on this super tech stuff...That is way off base. I just regurgitate crap I've learned, I'm in the bottom 5% of intelligence on this board.

Ya the LMM's remember (if you will) what has been done to them, But if you dont return the previous ecm's back to stock they can tell.

I have to agree with Keith and others. If you tune it and fry injectors, or use nitrous and burn a piston...TUFF SHIT. Why should GM pay for it?
On the other hand, ac compressor not being replaced because larger tires were installed is absurd. just my .02

That's exactly what I was getting at. If a guy recalibrates his speedo, he shouldn't have to risk losing his engine warranty.
