Here's what a cowl hood looks like.

Think I'll stick with the stock hood then. Thanks Josh

Thanks guys, just need to remove the add-a-leaf that is in the rear suspension and do something about the diamond plate bed caps.

Does anyone know of some decent looking aftermarket hoods for the 01-02 truck? The paint on this hood is in rough shake, clear coat and paint is cracked all over, looks like crows feet all over it. It's going to need to be stripped and repainted, contemplating replacing it all together...

The stock hood is what makes that truck....

Welcome to the site. for the trans kit id either go with PPE or suncoast kit. a good triple disk converter i would go with either Mike L precision or suncoast or PPE. stock trans can only handle about 400hp @ the crank. for the turbo id go with billet S366 then twin it to billet S480. stock bottom end can handle about 600 hp @ the crank. you prolly know all about that stuff but jus checking. heres some pics i seen on another forum guys truck that you may like. heres a link to site to get one. http://suncoastcreations.com/a-g-si-1-cat.html. but i have 01 truck as well and like the hood as is.

It's a turbo we had Pius at Bell Turbo put together for us. Replaced the stock twin system with this turbo. 1150-cfm. Gained almost 100hp over the stock turbos with no other changes. Truck made 636hp on the dyno, stock fuel system and stock transmission. Just a DPF delete, custom tune and our single turbo.

Just got back from the dyno at Gillett Diesel. Wanted to do some different tune testing for some baseline numbers. Truck has an Airaid intake, Alligator Turbo Inlet, 4" ehxaust and stock trans.

Stock ECM - 289hp/496tq
Edge Evolution CTS Tow - 346hp/641tq
Edge Evolution CTS Extreme - 381hp/781tq

IdahoRob EFI Tunes
Optimized Stock - 316hp/528tq
Level 2 (Street/Tow) - 396hp/665tq
Level 3 (Hot Street) - 431hp/790tq

Stock trans was not happy after the Level 3 run, 4th and 5th gear started acting up. Didn't run Tunes 4&5, stock trans won't hold them. I asked Rob to build the tuning for a built tranny, so those results were expected. I have the trans rebuild kit, Precision converter and an Airdog here waiting to be installed.

Robs Stock tune not only picked up about 25hp, but peak EGT's were about 50-degrees cooler the stock ECM run. Peak horsepower with Robs tunes were about 400rpm higher than peak with the Edge. And the torque curve is extremely flat with Robs tunes, Edge started to fall off on torque after 2300rpms, while Robs held steady well over 3000rpms. Overall, I was very impressed with the results from the Edge box, gains were exactly what they market them to be and the truck runs really strong with them, smoke free and stock trans safe. But obviously, I'll continue to run Robs stuff, they run stronger and get better mileage too.

Made some more progress with the truck over the past week. Pulled the trans and built to handle some horsepower. Also installed the Merchant Auto T-Case Brace. It appears it's in need of an Airdog now, rail pressure is dropping to around 19,000. It's amazing how much better these trucks feel with a solid transmission in them.

Just an update. First few tanks of fuel with the Edge CTS Evolution tuning best tank of fuel got 16.1mpg. Was a little disappointed at first to see it wasn't getting as good of fuel mileage as my 6.4 did, but with the EFI stuff from Rob, that isn't an issue anymore. Been getting 17.5-18.1mpg with the DSP5 tunes he sent.

Tune #3 limped the trans in 5th gear though, gotta take it easy on the ole girl :D

I Love Robs tunes! i got mine set #1 opt stock #240 heavy tow #360 lite tow/street#4street 85hp #5 150hp hot havent limped it yet i mainly keep it in 4 until i get my trans done in couple weeks by big dipper then the max effort tune will be configured in

Truck has been running great with the new trans in it. Have a set of Bilstein 5100 shocks to install tomorrow. Also have an Airdog II and some Cal-Tracs sitting here patiently waiting for me to find some time to install them. Going to get it back to the dyno as soon as the lift pump goes in.
