well, ide say that sucks. enough to make me not want to shop there if i heard about it and lived in the area.

however, the boss is the boss. i feel he was within his rights and he told the salesman it was coming.

He shouldve took it off. No NFL team is worth your job. Kinda dumb on his part because he KNEW that they spent 20k advertising for the Chicago Bears and then he wears a Green Bay tie to work and refused to take it off? Stupid person IMO

I'd agree with you with the exception of it's ridiculous as it opens doors to lawsuits over a NFL tie! He should have taken it off. More than likely there is something else going on and they were looking to get rid of him.

Take it off or lose your job. Pick one.

He made the wrong decision and is now realizing it.

The owner has a valid point. The dealer spends good money advertising with the Bears.

He gave a choice. The employee made the decision. pretty clear cut. Now if the boss said take that tie off or I'll fire you. That is different.

HA! It serves him right, what a idiot. that is like me wearing a shirt to work saying F%$& this company. They spend 20G's a month on adds with the Bears. That man dose not deserve a job because he dose not respect his place of employment.

If the employee refused to remove his tie when asked, then my guess is that guy wasn't on the bosses A-List to begin with. Probably the last straw.

It is not unusual to have a dress code when you're in sales.

If an employee showed up here with attire that might offend our customers, I would say the same thing, and we aren't into sales, and don't have a dress code.

ha yea i'd agree guy's a dumbass and prob only did it b/c he was trying to be funny, not to say his grandmother didn't like the packers but there is a time and a place. If the boss didn't like it, too bad he signs the checks. I'm sure he thought, watch i'm gonna wear this tie today and when my boss says take it off or i'm fired i'll leave it on, then sue for wrongful termination and discrimination.

It's like me coming to work in an Alligator performance Hat and an XDP shirt lol.

Might seem wrong to some of you guys but if that boss told you to beat the hell out of someone on the lot wearing a packers shirt or be fired would you. Gm is anal about what type of shirts we wear but nothing over who they spend or support. Were can not wear anything that has f@&$ this type of stuff or naked girls or guys for the ones that are on that side of the fence. Don't have to worry about wearing ties at the plant even the boss can not there unsafe chocking hazard along with no heels or pumps lol.

I always hated Friday nights at the plant in Wilmington de the guys had someone dress up as a Eagle they were all Philly fans. Went to the Baltimore md plant to work and had to hear Ravens chants all over. Now here in KCMO all I see and hear is KC Cheifs makes me sick lol point to this rant is are plant supports the home team in KCMO alot of there employees retired. We replaced alot of them from De Md area so you have Eagle fans Raven fans and also some Cheese heads so it gets heats during football time but they still don't tell us to all were KC Cheifs stuff since they support them and it's the home team.

Last time I heard this was a free country makes it easier for us to fight a issue over wearing something like this guy did we have a unionthat backs us. This guy should of took it off since he had no one to help his fight other then his one man band.

another example of comon sense being throwed out the window, most likely on both parts. But the bottom line is while on a job, Your time is the bosses. I have had to remind guys of this over cell phones, baggy pants, ect. I try not to impose on employees time off of work, but safety issues, and productivity issues, I have be known to saying something for showing up to work hungover ect. the bottom line is a boss has more to think of than just what is going on right now.

Heck, my union used to try and convince us we would better off unemployed. UAW used to send us "Voting Ballots" for all the people who wanted us defense employees to lose our jobs.

They won, and that factory that employed 20,000 people is now gone.

Let's say the salesman had a union that would allow all sales staff to dress any way they wanted. Would that effect the sales, hence the job opportunities at that dealership? I'd guess it would hurt sales.

Your obligation as an employee is to make your company successful. The better off your company is, the more job security you have, as well as more opportunity for advancement. The manager's job is the same, just different duties.

We had a memo come thru the plant from from the higher ups. It was over what was parked in the plant parking lots if it was not one of the big 3 you would have to park off plant property or along ways away from the turngates to clock in. At the Union halls you can not park anything but one of the big 3 there has to be parked off site or on the street.

So I could see if this salesman was wearing a car makers name on his tie but come on it's a damn football team. Shame on the owner of the dealers ship for pimpin out rides to the player and paying out that money on the team. In the artical the manger said if it was on Saturday if he was wearing the tie it would of been fine. So only thing that changed was the team they pampered lost from sat to mon and feeling were hurt now.

Yeah..the boss should have his ass kicked for being a little girl about it. BUT!!! If I was the guy wearing the Packers tie. I would have gladly taken the tie off..and said.

"Here you go. But you know....boss man. Me taking off this tie isnt going to put the bears in the super bowl" "They still lost, maybe next year. Huh Boss?" <---i dont think that would have gotten him fired :roflmao::rofl::thumb:
