I have been told that the axils don't get their strength until they have been "set"... I have also been told that the axils don't get their optimal strength until they are yielded anywhere from 90 to 180*. Did you "set"/ preset the axils before you went to a pull?
never heard of setting axils either
. good luck with your next set man the first were very nice even though they didnt work out
This was what I was told when we installed aftermarket axils in another truck. He said 4x4 boosted launches, hook it to a tongue heavy trailer then 2x4 boost launch it. IDK Just what I was told????

Well back to the drawing board, the axles didn't hold up like I thought they would. After one pull the passenger side yielded about 90 degs, and the driver side yielded 360 degs before it snapped clean, about 3" from the outer end.
How hard did you heat treat to on the 4340 shafts?
