how bad is a limp for a truck i have heard alot about this and never none the extent of damage

a limp is when the trans senses a clutch slip and disengages before further damage is done . it will limp easier ,and easier after each time . but if the power is turned down it will operate like normal usually . wich is why most say turn down the power or get the trans built .

no codes no lights, and i have had a limp before and this seemed nothing like it
i would scan it , sometimes you pop codes and the MIL wont show on the dash . it can not limp without a code . the code is what causes the limp ( or disengagement)

"Zing" IIRC (been awhile...)

Which is prelimp.
Better start saving for and read-up on aftermarket tranny upgrades!

that happened to me yesterday. i was racing a porsche and it kicked into what i though was limp mode, so i started to slow dow to pull into the shoulder and it all of a sudden fixed itself and shifted back into 5th... so i kept it moving. no cels or codes.

then again this morning goin to merge onto the parkway it actually went inot limp mode. i had to pull over shut the truck off and wait 30sec for it to go back to normal. i started it back up and had a cel. then kept it moving again.
