Fass 1/4 tank issue input

Gonna be putting a fass 150 in a lmm this weekend and looking for some input on the 1/4 tank issue, I tried over on DF but there was no help there cause I wasn't asking about -400 offset on my 22×11de7 rims! I hate that forum! Anyway does drilling holes in the fuel basket help the 1/4 tank issue or no? If so where exactly do you drill said holes? The guy does not want to run a sump and it's too late to get a aftermarket pickup straw or anything like that. Just looking for some input here......thanks

Stock pickups are 1/2" no need for a draw straw.

The LBZ and LMM are not 1/2" inside the tank, the LBZ is slightly different at the cup.

You are correct I was thinking LB7 and LLY. The LBZ and LMM are slightly smaller. But we have seen LML's run stock pickups with over 550hp. I personally ran my stock pickup last year in my drag truck without an issue.

Setup your return to feed into the pickup basket. This will help to keep the fuel pickup submerged at 1/4 the tank or less. I ran my return through the original fuel tank vent and rerouted the vent to the draw straw pickup the last time I dropped the tank.

This does 2 things, first it ensures that the fuel pump does not draw faster than the basket can recover and allows for mixing of the returned fuel from the engine to pass through the cooler and help regulate the fuel temperatures in the basket.

Have put over 20 gallons in the tank several times and not had any issues.

The only problem I've had with 1/4 issue is starting up the truck one time with it close to E had to turn it over a little extra but once it started everything was irie:thumb:

Some have problems and some do not, mine used to drain the rails on my 90hp tune till I switched to Nicktane adapter with a Donaldson P553203 which flows 90gph as opposed to 45gph stock filter and opened where the ball seats inside the factory primer head.

Need to add a fuel cup/drawstraw when/if a lift pump lands on my door step, THEFERMANATOR told me after calibrating my tune the truck would get more "sideways" with a lift pump.. ....:thumb:

Correct no mods well only difference is mines on passenger side frame rail but no mods to tank.

The 1/4 tank issue was from guys cutting the draw straw too short( measuring it with the tank sitting flat on the ground) so there was too big of a gap. Haven't done it in my lml but in my lb7 I put 25.6 or something gallons in at 26 gallon tank...

Sumps look terrible in my opinion not only a big piece stuck to the bottom of the tank but then a fuel line that always sags and looks awful as well. Guess it's easier than measuring to install a straw. To each their own

Nothin' like drilling a hole in the bottom of a perfectly good non leaking tank..

Or end up with an almost mess like this when the hole saw pilot bit punches through and the hole saw catches, spins out of control aimlessly and shreds the bottom of the tank, he said it initially leaked and sanded then reinstalled. More than likely seep long term....

I love explaining to our pilots that something is seeping so were still good to fly. they just get the are you sure look lol
