As background, I tow a 13-14 thousand pound 5th wheel. As recommended by the book, I use Tow/Haul mode for that weight. When accelerating onto the interstate, I got the loud bang, a jerk, and I’m in limp mode with “Shift Range Inhibited” on the DIC. The gear selector has a line under the correct gear. I get it out of limp and get almost home and it repeats. This time I clear it and drive w/o tow/ haul. Works as advertised. On advice, I replace the NSBU, fluids, spin on, and even the internal filter. Everything looks showroom new on the inside. Nothing at all in the pan. Test drive the unit. Work great in every mode. Hook up the trailer in tow /haul and bang, right back. Since I don’t have the facilities, I take it to an Allison shop where I get all new solenoids and a software upgrade. Leave lots of money and off I go only to have the tranny do exactly the same thing; Back to the shop where he gets a P0733; Replaces the turbine speed & output speed sensors; Same problem only now we get a P0732. The Allison guy runs it to GM who verify the P0732 . Their write up says, “150950 transmission slipping verified P0732. Road test trans slipping in 2nd gear has internal concerns.”

I’m a bit frustrated at this point, spending a lot of money to find out that I have an internal problem. I may not be the sharpest tack in the box, but I had that one figured out when I took the ^&^$% thing there in the first place. Now I’m told it’s probably the C1 clutch and need a whole clutch pack, overhaul etc, etc.

I will have to pay to have it fixed. I just don’t want to pay for more guessing. I figured I’d ask you guys on here for your opinions and advice:

Any other ideas of what else may fix it, short of an overhaul?
Am I going to have to sell my first born to cover this?
About what should it cost?

Any input would be appreciated

Sounds like you need to have some one rebuild your transmission.
If you slip your transmission it's on the way out.

Where are you located?
What's all done to your pickup?
Fill out sig so people are more able to help out.

Sorry about the signature. I live in Virginia Beach, VA and have a 2003 Silverado HD 4x2, and the only upgrade on it are 265/75 tires, 4 inch Banks exhaust, air filter, and waste gate. I used to run the Banks automind but took it out when all this started. It made no difference either way.
