I'd prolly get a new hg too. But I've been running once torqued hgs on my puller. Didn't see a heat cycle either but was in a pinch so I said **** it. Machine shops will torque a hg and reuse it after checking clearances anyway

Like James said.... check the sealing part of the head if you get a used one...

this the way the machine shop sent me back my heads after shaving them and installing new cups. I faught them with my CC company and won. Basko Engine Service in Mesa, AZ. Their on my shit list.

I'm sorry too. In general I'm an ace mechanic. I never imagined I was eatin the head w that cup tho. I will be putting the cups in the new head before mounting it this time around. I've already built a jig to allow me to install the cups and injectors on my bench. I did successfully build a cup puller for 15$ though. I'll make a comment in the link Bac supplied me- the anchor does not need to be 7in long. Most hardware stores only carry 5.5in. Plenty long enough. The machine shop hacked my other head attempting to remove the glow plugs. Having so much fun! However the top end of my truck will be brand new. I'll never need to buy another truck again and even with 2600$ in new heads i've saved money on the parts and labor elsewhere.

I'm thinking I will replace the remaining 3 cups including the one I barely galled in the cooling area zone. My question, Do I need to replace the cup seals? They are pretty inexpensive so I may do it anyway. I just wonder if it's necessary being that they were lubed, didn't roll, and never heat cycled.

And of course I was expecting my new head today being I ordered it on Thursday.. But DHD needs to swap the freeze plugs to make it a passenger side head. Only they've just bothered to call me about it today, 5 days later.. They haven't gotten any plugs in stock yet. Just.. Awesome.. Damn it if it weren't for crappy luck I'd have none at all.. This is really starting to get old.

No porting. They are however all remanned cleaned and machined with new valve seals, and keepers. The springs are tested and the valve seats machined of course. They're a nice deal for 750$ assuming you have good cores. I didn't initially plan on replacing either head.. Just my luck in action.

I had $800 in a pair of remanned stock heads back in 2010. DHD has a tendency to price everything they sell a "tad" high.

Yea, but they were the only trustworthy vendor I found with a set in stock.. Name of the game I guess.

I'm just honestly upset that my truck has stayed down an extra 5 days now because of some lousy freeze plugs.. They can't just call napa and put a set of Clevite's in it or something? And they waited as for me to call them just to say they had called me to tell me but had the wrong number?? Kinda bogus I think. School is starting soon and I HAVE to have my truck.
