A 4x4 shop in ft Collins took my lift off a few weeks ago..they supposedly had it aligned and all buttoned up. I picked it up and noticed the camber was pretty far off and the steering was a bit sloppy. Camber isn't a big deal cause I planned on playing with the t bars a little. I haven't been driving it very much so the sloppy steering hasn't really been an issue..

well..leaving my driveway this afternoon I hear a horrible pop, steering gone,.those dipshits didn't put the back bolt of the steering box in at all..and only a couple threads on the two front bolts. It sheared off the two bolts that were in it and unloaded all the fluid so something is def jacked up..Had that have let loose with my wife and kid in the truck on the highway....I don't even want to think about it.

I wish I knew a personal address or phone number..I'm gonna lose my f'ing mind on those clowns Monday!!

Ouch, I had a shop put a new pitman arm on.. The steering wheel still had slop, so my mechanic buddy at the same shop said buy a gear box..Its gotta be the gear box, I did that..Well we went to fix it on the weekend and luckily his other buddy mechanic was under my truck and noticed the pitman arm was not really moving.. We remove and the mechanic that put it on, somehow stripped half the teeth inside the pitman arm..

Man sorry to hear this. Hopefully they step up and make it right!

they better, to me this is way worse then messing up in the engine, something goes wrong internally and it blows, at least you can pull over. This thing lets go and thats all she wrote!

I knew it was in good shape because i just rebuilt the whole steering setup with a kryptonite kit and added all new ball joints..and the left all that stuff intact for the install..i thought anyway

Out and about
I had a local shop rotate my tires [ on a Nissan sentra] a while ago, they used an impact and stretched all the studs in the axle. I felt a vibration and went back, they said it must have been like that when it came in. 3 of the studs broke when they went to take the tire off. I was pissed!!!

Sorry to hear you got kicked in the nuts Wade

I had new tires put on my pickup 4 years ago when my wife and I moved up to Canada. They had an extra set of lug nuts they were going to put on being mine were rusted. Well they didn't look that my lug nuts are 14mm and put on 9/16". They also didn't put the washers on (after-market lug centric wheels) and bottomed out the lug nuts the first run through.

Needless to say I found out the one weekend I used the maintence shop at work to install all my gauges. I was able to salvage most of the lug nuts and my old ones to get 8 on the passenger side and 6 on the driver side. It took off chunks of metal from the studs. What made it worst was I didn't get home from doing that till 2am when I had to be at work at 6am the next day.

Sorry for the side track, it just pisses me off when that stuff happens. It happens WAY to much.

What happened with this?

They agreed to take care of everything until they looked and and decided that they would have never touched the steering box on the lift removal, so they blamed the alignment company...will its been a few weeks so the alignment shop won't touch it...at the end of the day I'll pay the 250$ for the new box, they'll eat the labor.

I'm taking the blame because I let so much time pass before looking at the loose steering...ya it was fine when I dropped it off, and loose at pick up..but I f#$ked by letting so much time pass. One of the two shops jacked it up. But I can't prove shit...
