I still dont see how a tech 2 can pull info from a truck if the original ECM and TCM are swaped out for tuning purposes. If you have problems swap the originals back in for warranty work. And I do believe if you break it you buy it, but to just deny warranty because a truck has been tuned sucks. If you roast a trans because of tuning, put on your big boy pants and pay for the repairs.

GM will want to know the regeneration count and the actual mileage of the truck, using the Tech II. Since the stock ECM will only have X amount of regens since it was first removed, the mileage-per-regen wont add up. Warranty declined.

I did some thinking and one way to sorta even get around that is to install the original ECM then do command service regens to get the 'regens-per-mile' up to a normal number. However depending on how many miles you drove with the tuned ECM, to get the regen number up to snuff could kill a whole day, tank of fuel, and more than likely an oil change.

When GM is dishing out over $11,000 for a new engine out of their pocket? You bet they will. Like I said GM thinks these engines are bulletproof up to 100,000 miles.

Have to remember I'm talking about major failures that happen under warranty. But when dealerships start declining axle seal leaks and turbo vane sensors and such like that, just because it's tuned, well then that is a joke.

I agree, my friend was told plain and simple, tune it and lose the warranty. Seems kind of extreme to not cover uneffected parts.

Well, that is actually illegal.

Edit; Partially illegal. Also if you do decide to fight it, plan on it costing more than the repair, most likely more than cost of the truck.

I had this exact same question. I want to delete my 2015.5 Denali for better mpgs and sound but voiding the warranty is holding me back the truck doesn't even have 500 miles yet and I don't know if something stupid could go wrong that isn't my fault. Anyone done the ecm tcm swap? I have a really good relationship with my dealership and I think they would try and help me out and look into it as little as possible but I'm still on the fence.
