Has anyone ever seen a cover that would bolt on in place of your exterior mirrors? I checked around the slammed and smooth crowd but could not find anything? Did the larger trucks have a cover in this location and then mirrors on the door?

I only race my truck so I sold my tow mirrors to buy parts. White speed tape over the holes is a bit rough.

Thanks

If you find the block off plates, let me know.

probably not what you want,But would you be satisfied with some smaller mirrors....Like the ones on Casper?

I think GM makes plastic covers that replace the outside mirrors. I found them on Buck Spruill's truck in the Oct 06 issue of Diesel Power. It says there for dually trucks with large western style mirrors. Not sure on the P/N though.

look on ebay for any GMT-800 cab/chassis truck that has the westcoast style mirrors, get that VIN, take it to the dealer, and have them look up the part.

Ok, you asked for it. Make sure you're sitting down and have no loose objects or drinks nearby for when you freak out and start flailing in pain.

Dealer list is $67 and $71. For two pieces of molded plastic with three studs attached! If you have a "connection", you MIGHT get them for about $45/pc.

I was going to do this earlier this year, but damn....$138?!? Darius was able to get them for the cheaper price because he has a parts dept bud, BUT availability of these is extremely limited. The two that D bought came from two differnt dealers in two differnt states. Most dealers do not stock them, and they dont come as a set. Ill ask D to post a pic of his when I see him tomorrow.

IMO, on a for-dollar basis, they dont save enough wind resistance for that expense. I mean, you may gain a .01, but is it worth it? Pat and Kat made some excellent points about needing mirrors in the pits, too.

gmpartsdirect has them for about $44 each. But they do like to hit you with shipping real hard. It would cost $107.16 total w/ shipping.
Or you can go to the junk yard and see if you can find the camper style real cheap, and just yank off the mirror, or fold it back. That way you could have the best of both worlds. Less wind resistence when folded back and still have a mirror for those occasions when you might need it. here is a pic of the one I'm talking about.

I thought about taking a set of broken camper mirrors and just using the mount, no mirror. Other than the big hinge section, they'd be about the same as the covers.
