Picking up a new 2024 3500HD tomorrow, can't decide if i should get the extended warranty or not. Is it worth it for these trucks? Did you ever use it or wish you bought it?

I spent the money and bought it. The DEF, emissions, fuel system, don't want to worry. 7-year 100,000 mile plus oil changes included. I don't want to do the oil changes anymore. I calculated it out between buying the oil, filters and disposal it was worth the money. I just had my first oil change done and they filled the DEF too. They are doing oil changes every 5k.

How much was a warranty like that worth? They offered me bumper to bumper coverage for 5 years 140,000kms. With power train warranty until 160,000km still for $4000.
Full bumper to bumper, power train is 7 year 100,000miles. $7k
3 years of oil changes every 5k for $1200.

There isn’t a competent dealer around me so no, wasnt worth it and I’m glad I didn’t buy it. It’s a sad deal out here…
They offered the 7 yr 100k warranty to me for 2,700. I passed on it. I had one on the 16 that was free when I bought it. I never used it, emissions crap gave up 1 month out of warranty.
Can't you buy the extended warranty at any Chevy dealer? And don't different dealers have different prices for the same coverage? May be able to purchase the warranty for some time after purchase. Might want to check into that.
I'm leaning towards not getting it. Going to see if it covers injectors and pump today if not I'll hard pass on it.

I stopped buying extended warranties because most of the time they expired and I never needed them.(TV's, computers, washer/dryers, etc.) This was an expensive purchase and if things go wrong after the 3/36, I didn't want to worry about it. Find out what the costs are after purchase like Ron said. It's up to what you think you need. Good luck with the purchase today.

Good morning all, just a little info for all you 3.0L I6 Diesel Engine folks to think about. I have a 2020 GMC LTZ Sierra with the 3.0L I6 diesel engine, 108000 miles, when I purchased the truck it has 82000. The check engine lite came on the other day and I checked for codes, P0016, when your powertrain control module detects that your crankshaft and camshaft are out of time.
Cleared the code, and it came back after 7 miles, long story short, took it in the GM dealership and three days later they tell me that it will cost $7800.00 to repair the truck, GM will not help pay for the repair, no recalls, also no parts available, nationwide back order and its the 4th truck they have had in this year for this problem.
Now I like my truck, but if someone had told me that around 100000 miles I would have to spend almost 8 gran on it to replace timing chain and sprockets and I not sure what else I might have reconsidered, also I have asked them to change the oil pump belt while they have it apart, no use having to take it apart again in 42000 to replace that.
Not sure how many trucks out there have this issue or going to have this issue, but its a costly repair that I wasn't prepared for.
PS: the labor for this repair is 40 hours!
