Looking into putting a new exhaust on seeing as mine is stock. Not sure if I should go with the 4" or 5". I was told that the 5" are a tight fit with out a lift kit and with out major mods i wouldnt really need to go with the 5". What is your guys opinion on this? Also what kind of increase can i expect from the new exhaust? Was thinking of going with a down tube right away.

I personally dont think you see a noticable power increase with an aftermarket exhaust until you approach the 500 HP mark, but you will benefit from the EGT reduction. And you wont notice a difference between the 4" and 5" as far as power goes. I think the 5" looks and sounds better. I dont thing the down pipe is worth swaping out unless your going with an aftermarket charger. Others will disagree, which is fine, I just think the gains are minimal and there are other things that could be bought that would benefit you more. What year is your truck?

Although the power gains will not be much I still think an exhaust is worth installing for the EGT reduction, plus your truck wont look like its got a drinking straw hanging out the back LOL.

I have a 5" down pipe and 4" out. I wish I would of went 5" all the way out cause like the man said it looks and sounds better. If you have the few extra $$$ you may as well do the down pipe.

Plus, you should finish you sig so people know what you got. Good luck bud. :thumb:

LOL...Very true. I think i'll skip the down pipe and go with the exhaust. Some of the exhaust say do to lowering the egt theres some gain.

Thats what i was told with the down pipe. If your getting exhaust done do down pipe also. But if its not benificial with out many other mods then i dont feel the need..

Is it true the 5" is a bear to put in a truck with no lift do to lack of room?

Is all the exhaust basically the same as far as brand names go..I dont want the one that looks like the tip is just about to hit the ground. Want it tucked up tight

I like the black also, I took a rattle can and painted the last 2 feet of mine satin black and it looks pretty good. If I had to do it again I would also get the 5" simply for the looks and the deeper exhaust note.

I prefer flo pro over mbrp. Especially in the aluminized ones. On the mbrp the hanger and clamps run fast. The flo pro ones are coated. Plus they seem to fit better and use a little thicker wall pipe.

Well if it looks decent and paint stays on def sounds like a good idea..
I scuffed the crome tip up with some steel wool and just sprayed it. It stays on good, after a couple months the rocks from the tire ding it up a bit but I just wipe it off and hit'er with another coat.
