quick question....check out this crossmember, can someone with a 5" exhaust look real quick and let me know if th pipe goes over that or if it goes toward the driver side close to the driveshaft?

thinking of putting together my own 5" single stack...thanks

My 4" goes under it kind of like that but doesn't lean towards the center that far....

My vote is for a 6" stack....I wish I had one instead of 5" my selling point was the whole 35 bucks I gave for it!:thumb:

5" is fine for me ronnie :) i'll just get some 5" pipe and cut a slant and call it a day lol...i might go so far as to have a friend powder coat it black. but your 4" going under that doesn't stick out below the frame rail at all?

If it does it's not much at all...I double check when I get home but i'm 90 percent sure it goes under. Mine is a Banks kit....

If nobody answers on here i'll give ya a shout later.

when i put my stack in i looked and looked at that crossmember. i want to cut it out and just make a new one. make it straight and mount the carrier bearing on top of it. mines 2wd though. but i took a measurement and it was 4" from the top of the crossmember to the bottom of the floor(there are some stiffeners on it too). if you hugged the frame a 5" might fit. or like you said try hugging the driveshaft. i dont know what it looks like under that heatshield. hell you could even clearance out some of the floor stiffeners to get it to fit.

no way a 5" will fit under it without sticking out  and my truck is lowered so if anything hits ide way rather it be my fame rails then exhaust tubing...4" from the top of that cross member to the shield you mean? i bet theres nothing under that i think its just for sound deadening.... but i could be wrong

i pushed up on the shield and right above the exhaust is a stud for the shield and it appears to be mounted to a floor brace. i pushed up on the shield till it stopped and measured 4"

all exhaust kits will go under that x member. Not sure what the hell is on that truck b/c it has the 2 bolt flange. The 5" will stick out a bit but it'll never hit the ground. Beech i have one of those 5" mid pipes that has the bend in it if ya need one.

I cut that x memeber out on mine anyway and made a new one then just ran the pipe between it. maybe i'll get a pic later.

hmm...so thinking will that hook up to my 4" front pipe with a reducer then i can just run some flex and a 90 to a stack?

that should work perfect. my black cloud single stack kit came with that stuff. hook the flex to the exhaust, then the 90* off of that. thats why i was looking at moving that crossmember down and having a straight run in the exhaust. my flex needed to be cut in half to fit right. it was really kind of a pain in the ass.

i think i miss understood before, youre wanting to make a bend using the flex right? i dont see why that wouldnt work might have to be pretty long though. i think i could only get the flex i had to go about 45*. here are the pics though
