So I kinda looked into the whole escalade cluster swap and keept seeing people come up with different things, so I came across one that a guy was parting out and got a really good deal on the cluster the wood grain bezel and the wood steering wheel! So I said why not because the price was so cheap figured I give it a shot my self! And after I installed my cluster the only thing that I see different is that the wait to start light isn't there and I figure that's not too bad I'll just wait 10-15 secs to start, anyway it doesn't ever take that long even when it's below freezing here in nc for 1-2 months outta the year! What u guy think

You'll code for no wait to start light, but you can add your own bulb to make a makeshift indicator. As to just waiting 10-15 seconds, many times your plugs will not glow that long(depending on your truck), so your plugs will cool back off, and it will be like starting without them.

It's not even cold enough there to worry about it. Last winter my truck had 3 plugs out. 3 seconds and crank it over. Truck never got warm till I passed tbell though.

Actually, I'm not sure they do shut off. From what I have seen, they pre-heat for a certain amount of time, then the wait to start light goes out, but the plugs remain on. The current draw seems to back this up.

Look in a LB7 tune, for example. When it is cold, the glow plugs are set to run for 30 seconds, but the light goes out in 5-10 seconds.

As for the dash, is there a way to add/program in the wait to start light? I am going to be helping my brother do a Duraburb this winter, and he wants to keep the original dash. If we could get a wait to start light working in it, that would be ideal. I'm not afraid to crack it open and solder in a new bulb/LED.

Just do a gauge face and needle swap on your stock cluster (might as well upgrade to LED's too).

The glow plugs do shut off after the set time in the tune. The wait to start light seems to only come on for about half of the requested glow time. As to the light, you can wire one in easyily enough. You have to add the wire into a gasser from the ecm, but any low current drain bulb or led will work. I know some others have added the indicator into escalade clusters, but I don't thing the wts symbol is present in one, so it would be just a light unless you swap in a custom overlay.

I tuned an LB7 that was running a cluster from a 1/2 ton. The tach was way off (assuming because it is a 6k rpm tach running on a 5k rpm signal) and it had some sort of message on the DIC about the brake booster because of the lack of a vacuum booster.
