Ok so I got myself into a new project. Yikes didn't know how it would go. Swapped my 2005 Duramax 2500hd LLY diesel for a Duramax 2500hd LBZ diesel 2006 Cleaned my injectors swapped parts balanced my valves and swapped a lot of parts now getting ready to put back together. 3rd time working hopefully it will start. Wish me luck.

Welcome

What was wrong with the LLY? Also, some of those early LBZs where detuned to match the LLY output. If yours is like that you can install the later tunes and "restore" the power and still be fully EPA compliant

Well yes a lot of parts did match. 1st time I put in the new one connected everything but knocking
2nd time did in fuel injectors.
Now 3rd time adjusted valves balanced and or got it to clear valve adjustment since it rained didn't worked on it but tomorrow 🤞🏻 connecting the rest back oh yes I did replace rail pressure sensor, new fuel pump, fuel pressure pump, and replaced crankshaft sensors and the crankshaft sensor. New gas treatment new diesel fuel drained radiator new fluids, we shall see tomorrow any ideas I could be missing?

Double check the crank and cam sensors are in the right harness connector. Easy to accidentally swap them and you'll have a no start condition. The two sensors look the same and connect the same

Do you have a bidirectional scanner, like EFI live? Very helpful in diagnosing no start conditions and many other issues

By they way, Tom, or another mod will likely move this thread to another more appropriate location now that it's moved beyond an introduction

So you swapped the 06 LBZ/6 speed drivetrain into your 05 LLY truck? Remember to swap the cluster, shifter and pedal assembly?

And yep, moving this to repower/transplant section.

If this is what was done (06 drivetrain into an 05), and the ECM and TCM were swapped as well as required harnesses, it'll 'work' without the 06 cluster and shifter, and it would 'probably' start with the 05 pedal (I know with a similar gasser pedal that had the wrong voltages for the LBZ, it would start but there was no pedal input). Now, if a 06 LBZ drivetrain was dropped in but the 05 LLY electronics were left, that's a different story.

Oh it's been fun so far but yes lots of swapping out here and there thanks for the information
