I know this isn't really the right forum for these type of subjects, but I'm not subscribed to any other more appropriate ones. Plus I know we have a bunch of varied people here, all with different talents, Interests, locations and backgrounds. so I hope there is enough of us to make something of it.

I wanted to ask, how many of us have some kind of emergency preparations setup for if things get bad. this will of course be different scenarios for different people and locations. for me: I live next to a dam, and like oroville dam just north of us, could always have issues necessitating evacuation. also, Fires like the Paradise fire two hours north. Riots in neighboring cities, etc. seems like every year there is something new and some day it just may be my town.

My long term solution would be my bug out / camping trailer but being as that is a ways off before completion I'll have to rely on what I can pack into my truck or car and head somewhere safe. If I have to abandon that them I have my bag.

I will start by showing you my current emergency bag. it is currently about 20 lbs over the recommended tipping the scale at 48 lbs. it is not 100% complete as I may ditch a few items and I need a map or two, etc.

Anyone else have a "bug out bag" if you will or some other emergency evacuation kit set up? lets see what you got.

Shoot it's something I think about every so often. Especially now that I live in the damn Bay Area, if there was a Paradise situation here or something like my folks experienced in Ventura County fires... there's bottlenecks everywhere you turn, basically only one way in and out other than bridges. I think about that guy Panda Tundra or whatever who basically melted his truck rescuing people, and then I think about my current rigs... and I shudder.

At one point I half heartedly started to collect things in one of those home depot totes, but a bag that's carryable or wearable makes much more sense. Thanks for posting your kit and I hope to get some ideas from others.

Yeah, I'll likely put together a tote for the vehicle. something to put some of the less "servivalest" items. mare long term stuff. If I had to ditch it like many of the Paradise residences had to when the roads jammed up I wouldn't be at a total loss.

I don't think I could ever manage living in the bay area. been there enough times to know I don't like it. I could see a major event causing a serious log jam for you. I have the 50 freeway only a few miles from me but I think everyone else will also be taking it and there is almost 80k people in Folsom. now add neighboring cities and it won't move at all.

We live in the mountains. Pond/stream on the property, enough wildlife around for plenty of food and we have a small garden. Live 2 miles at the end of a private road and the 5 other people who live on it are all ex military who have the same mindset. About 5 acres cleared around us the rest is all wooded and backs to national forest on all sides. Pretty easily defended. I do have a small bag i throw from vehicle to vehicle that has an extra handgun, mags for said handguns, 6 pmags, broke down ar pistol, water filtration tablets and straws, various fire starters, knives, full med kit, power bars, some reflective heat blankets, and various other survival items. Basically enough stuff for a 3 day max trip to get us back home hopefully.

I can't go any farther than home. My wife has a pickup load of stuff canned, the freezers are loaded, generator is ready, I have a couple AR's, pistols for the whole family, and enough ammo to make Beto have a stroke. I pray we have enough sane politicians in place to pull this country out of this funky place it is in.
