Elko, NV

I have to go to Elko on 10/31-11/5 for fire training. From what I can gather, there's not much to do there!! Any one from the area have any intel for me? We have a choice to lodge at Red Lion or holiday inn! What do you all suggest? You can reply here or pm me if needed!!

I stayed at the red lion. it was nice, and had a casino with a craps table which was a plus.

Yeah man. Class is from 7-5 Tuesday-Friday. If we had time, I'm sure the coworker that's coming with me would have no problem for a Vegas trip

Actually, we're flying in Monday around noon and don't have class until Tuesday at 7 am.

I'm in Elko basicaly just over the hill. If you want to gamble, eat and drink in the same place you sleep then the red lion is a winner if not the holiday in is quieter. There is plenty of stuff to do if you like the outdoors take a ride up Lamoille canyon, Wildhorse resevoir, ect. If you can't entertain yourself or get off I-80 or the main roads you will hate the place.

One good thing about this place is everyone is to lazy to go find the great things it has thats why it's still great :rofl: If everyone liked it here it would be like phoenix poeple shootin at each other on the highway, shittyass traffic, having to lock everything you own ect...:joker:

I disagree, Nevada is a Offroader paradise. I raced motocross all over Nevada. A guy can ride for hundreds of miles and not see another soul... There is really some beautiful senery if you take the time to go look for it. It helps if you like the high mt. desert.

You do need to be able to entertain yourself as already mentioned. I never was much for big city life.

Some good food in Elko! Go to Machi's for the best prime rib in the world and go to the Star for steak sandwiches at lunch. And if you dso get bored at night just hit up Third St behind Stockman's Casino...:thumb:
