What controls the dome light in a 2004 GMC Sierra? When you open the door, the light is suppose to come on, it doesnt, sometimes. Sometimes with the door closed, while driving down the road, they all turn on like it would when you first open the door. The dinger dings when the key is taken out of the ignition, with doors open and truck shut off. I have to cycle the key or open and shut the door a couple of times for it to go off. The radio stays on just like it would if you shut the truck off, take out the key and not open the door, but with the door open. What controls all of this? Ive been dealing with it for a while now, but i'm finially fed up. Biggest problem and inconvienence is the dome light. Its a pain in the butt to have to open the front door, manually turn on the dome lights with the dimmer roller, and then strap in my 1 year old son. I dont really care about the radio deal, but my guess is its all caused by the same grimmlen!

It sounds like a door switch may be weirding out a bit. Does this only happen with the driver's front door? I know you mentioned opening the rear door for your kid. The light still doesn't turn on even with the rear doors?
Nope, None of the doors will turn the light on when its acting up. When its working properly, they all work as the should.
That's hard to say. Nothing else acting funny? Even the smallest thing could give us a better idea. Possibly a BCM going funky however I hate deeming a module bad right away. 90% of the time its not a module.
May want to check the Body Control Module ground. Unfortunately its located under the dash on the driver's side.
Nothing else that i've noticed is acting funny. Just the courtesy light function, radio staying on after the door is open and the key chime dinging with the key out of the ignition.
Got the same thing. If you can, check for codes. The cel won't be lit, but will have a code. I have seen a code for this, but forgotten what it is. I'll check my truck in a little bit and see if it has thrown it again.
