Ok my 2007 Sierra Classic LBZ 65K mis. on her, had the CEL come on ..Advance Auto says its a EGR problem, truck is runnin as fine as ever, after some research here,I see a block plate , finger stick and maybe the pcv reroute too, being ordered in the near future,I have ample mechanical ability but not alot with these newer computerized control equipment, the block plate, stick &pcv look to be simple enough to do,
Now my question???...by doin the block plate if there is a malfunction now with EGR system, the block plate will shut down the system anyway so my EGR will no longer be a fault or problem? and would the finger stick cancel out the CEL or is there further resetting going to be needed??
or am I better off goin to my dealer... get the issue fixed and then add the block plate?
thanks for any help

in my opinion i would ditch the whole system.. either get a plate for the egr riser that bolts on or pull the up pipe and weld it up.. (id rather pull pipe and weld) then get a ppe or efi live tune to deal with cel from being on. do not go to the dealer!

The finger stick will essentially just trick the computer into the fact that it is working even when its not. Don't waste your time and money going to the dealer if you are going to block it anyways.

it depends on what goes wrong with the egr. my dads truck ('06) had a blocker plate and finger stick and the egr motor went bad and set a cel. ive since put efilive on his truck and deleted all the egr stuff.

Dont you need a working egr for the fingerstick to work?
The cheapest way to do it would be to get tuning and turn off the egr and block egr codes and install blocker plate.

There are a bunch of guys that will sell you the EFI V2 cable and tunes, you could also buy a pretuned ECM, or an AutoCal these will all get you the same end result, you will be able to log and reflash your own stuff with the complete setup (V2 cable) but its pricey, Auto Cal is more like a handheld tuner that a tuner will load tunes into and send to you, I believe you can still data log with it? A pre tuned ECM is just that a whole ECM that will be shipped to you already flashed to your preference.
