I own a 2006 GMC 2500hd with a LBZ and I need some help and advice. I have read quite a few posts about eliminating the EGR Valve. But seems like I have some questions that are still don't have answered to. I am trying to learn about this so please hang in there with me

I understand that to comply with emission standards the EGR calve cannot be eliminated. I am now talking conceptual but is it possible to bypass or eliminate the EGR in a way that would not be visible so it would still pass an emission test. I don't know if they even do a visual inspection before the Dyno test.

When eliminating the EGR I know that it will throw codes. I am not looking for a race truck and want the reliability of stock how are people bypassing the codes? I do quite a bit of cross country driving pulling a 20 ft trailer

Now remember this is all conceptual but I'd someone wanted to eliminate the EGR valve and cooler and keep it looking as close as stock as possible could someone recommend kit or system.

Any cons to elimination the EGR and Cooler?

Thanks
Jeff

Hondarider had some pictures of how he blocked his egr on his LBZ. Might send him a PM. He went a little more in depth than just blocking the up-pipe

EGR blocker plate can be easily removed before inspection, just use a liberal amount of anti-seize on the bolts, then add a fingerstick to eliminate the codes when the blocker plate is installed. :thumb:

So if I put in a blocker plate and bypass the cooler I would have to do an EFI tune. Is there anything else I would have to do. Would I need to put an cold air intake pipe in or just use the old one. I am trying to bypass the EGR and Cooler completely and leave them in place if a visual inspection has to be done before emission test.

Correct. The cooler would stay 100% in place. Nothing is removed. You could install a finger stick, or a tune from efi live. Heck even a ppe tuner has egr disabled.
