Bumping this back up.

When pulling do you normal notice the extra power, pull better, faster up hills?

Trying to decide if I want to even mess with this anymore. I went with a well know tuner so I wouldn't have to worry and it's the same shit different day.

It took me 3 years to get my ford dialed in. All I wanted was a little etxa power pulling hills. Not a race truck.

Little help please and thanks.

I read from the beginning and it seems like your tunes have had problems from day one..is the tuner a vendor here? The thing that surprised me is your not able to tell the difference in each tune.

Not sure if they are or not. ATP trucks is were I got the auto cal from.

Called them and emailed them. Not sure if I'm asking the wrong questions or wording it wrong. But I'm not getting a solid answer. I need to send in more data logs they said, trying to find time is hard right now.

I just don't understand what it's not making a difference. I can put edge, banks or a super chips in and see a difference, or I did on my 05.

I hate to keep calling or emailing them until I can get all the right info. Don't want to wast there time if I don't have too.

All changes will be based off of the switch working or not (basically). Tell them to put the hottest tune in the base file if you "don't have time" to data log.

Twan-
Is your turbo a stock turbo? W/226k mi? Stock trans, tires etc etc?

I'm just curious if there isn't an underlying issue...
The turbo brake that came with the tuning I had was not only noticeable, it was darn right attention grabbing if you were running some RPM! Also, switching from 3-4, or 3-5 should be a hoot, the power is absolutely noticeable. My tuning was for a built trans but the 3-4 gain for me should've been similar as your 3-5, but the tow tunes should be nearly identical for a stock trans stock engine truck, mines an LBZ.

You mentioned raising 8psi with the turbo brake, I remember more like 12 or more, and actually IIRC I remember seeing up to 20psi a time or two with the stock turbo but that could just be my bad memory. I know it was more than 8psi tho.

Maybe you're vane sensor is going bad, maybe the vanes are clogged with soot?

Also, are you positive the switch is hooked up right? Good connections? Are you sure the switch is good? Maybe only the odd positions are functioning, it's happened before. Each position sends a certain low level voltage. I don't remember what they are but you can test the switch.
And you're absolutely sure the right files loaded?

I know with my tuner, if the switch is hooked up wrong and you successfully load the tuning, the default tune is the max effort tune, and you can't switch from it. I'm not sure if ATP sets theirs up like that of not.
Although if indeed you're getting "some" turbo brake action, and you're noticing power differences between switch positions your switch is probably hooked up properly.

I'd let them know you're not satisfied, this is supposed to be a simple task, easy and painless, if they're sending out tuning for a stock truck it's a generic file that they've created and they basically cut and paste it into an Auto-Cal set up with your VIN, or they send you an auto cal and you load the tune. They send the same basic file to everyone who owns that year truck with the similar/same options. It's nothing "special"...
So I'm wondering WHY they would need "data logging" unless they're trying to trouble shoot an underlying problem for you, but if so, really they should be saying that upfront as they should know exactly what tune got sent to you...

Yes, everything other than a turbo sensors, fuel filter head, and a few glow plugs are oem from 0 miles. I got the truck new, I really don't think it's a truck problem.

I have checked the switch yet, heard I can with tr auto cal.

In a about 3 weeks I'll have some time off to data log and deal with this more, but I'm on a 6 week run of 12 hour days and away from home, don't want to hot rode the truck in big city's or brake it. Drive 3000 miles starting tonight. I try to data long it when driving with the trailer. But I don't know enough about the EFI yet. lol

You can data log with the auto cal, load the log onto your lap top and send the log to the tuner that way, or you can just log it off a lap top with EFI loaded in it, either way.

It's a bigger pain doing it through the auto cal. Towing the trailer might throw them off a lil tho with the extra load seen in the logs, I think it's prolly smart to wait until you're running solo, but then again it'd be shit if your tuning is causing an issue that will affect you later.

Good luck man, I hope you can get it resolved quickly

Bumping this up again. Final got home for a day, unhooked the trailer, put it on the 100hp and it runs way better.

So again I'm asking do you notice the extra power pulling???

Why does it help empty and not loaded???
