When loading the new EFI files onto the autocal, from my computer do I need to return the truck to stock?

Also I need to flash the tunes into the truck again to see if they didn't load right, do I just reflash the file or put the stock file in first.

Sorry new to this, cam over from fords. Lol.

Also I have stock, 40, 40 with brake, 65 as 100. Stock do most of you notice a difference from stock to 40hp? I can't tell any, empty or with the trailer, the 65 and 100 add some, but near like what they did on my ford? Don't want to bother the tuner till I know a bit more about the EFI and duramax.

40hp, not so much. But 100 will be a nice kick in the pants. Why didn't you get the turbo brake on all the tunes? Much nicer IMO

Generally you don't need to turn truck back to stock you can just reflash it with whatever new tunes you have. I don't think the autocal needs anything special, but I've never used one.

I've never used an autocal myself but when changing tuning with EFI you just flash it over whats in already. And X2 on the turbo brake, I had it on every tune and loved it.

Think I need to have them address my tunes, the brake doesn't work very well empty and I can't even till loaded with 8k. The only reason I know it's working is I can hear it and it's building 8 psi boost.

Best I can remember, for some reason I was told the break works better overall if its on all tunes. I guess because it will be on the base tune then?

Try manually downshifting to a lower gear with tow haul engaged.

Btw, the turbo brake isn't all that noticeable. Its not what most people think.

I was using tap shift.

I was wounding if I was thinking it would be stronger. I will have to wait till I pull the 5th wheel and see if it will hold my speed a little better before I say it's not working again.

That's for the info.

I'll play with it some more after I get the new tunes to for the speed being off.

Have any of you guys had trouble with your speedo showing faster after being tuned?
I'm hoping they get it right on this time. Sucks being 10% fast. Lol.

It will help the speedo issue if you have the actual revs/mile from the tire manufacturer rather than a generic tire size.

When you set it up for turbo brake on all tunes, you just set the vane pos MIN table to 99% wherever you wish for the brake to work. Much more reliable in case the turbo starts to build the actual desired boost in the DSP boost tables.

I'm not the one tuning it. Not sure why it is so fare off now, I let the tuner know. Just waiting on the new files.

They got the speedo right on now.

The brake isn't what ever makes out to be. As long as it keeps me from hitting the brakes as much on the mountains it will be worth it.

As for the power, 1 is stock power, 2 is 40hp with brake, 3 is 40hp 4 is 65hp and 5 is 100hp.

Pulling the hills across Iowa if I go from 2 to 1 it feels a slight more power, very little.
If I go from 2 to 3 it feels the same as 2 to 1 change. 1 and 3 feel and seem to be the same. If I go to 4 it's a small difference, 4-5 small difference.

Pulling the hills I couldn't tell you if I was on stock to the 100hp tune, this is with a 25' 8-9k trailer. I can feel the 40hp tune on my ford pulling and it holds speed and gears better. The Chevy nothing. Is this just normal or are my tunes messed up?

I haven't had the trailer off so I could see what it does.

What are your thoughts? Thanks.

Something is wrong with your tune if your turbo brake doesn't slow you down to about 20mph. T/h on and converter locked should bring the truck almost to a stop

I'm sure it works just like everyone's, it will if I wait for it. It's better than just the gears. I can feel it, but the way everyone talked about them I thought it was going to really stop me. It slows it down. Im more worried about the power levels right now. That seem normal??

Yeah I agree with what was said above, the turbo brake usually surprises people with how strong it is. It will just about stop the truck completely. That's why I normally do a tow with and a tow without. It can get really annoying in traffic or in town.

If you can't tell a significant change from stock to +100 there is a problem. Unless you run big tires, the 100hp tune should blow the tires off from a stop.

Have you verified the switch is working correctly?

Just 265/70r17's on a dually. I have not, since I could till the turbo brake hit I figured it was working.

What should I do? Thanks.

Its probably working then if you can tell that the brake comes and goes with different tunes. You should be able to monitor DSP switch voltage with your autocal
