Efi

Thanks for all the info. I didn't know you could dowload the software and do some pooking around without purchasing it. I had read that when you do purchase the product from a vendor they will linclude a tune or let you purchase one from them. It's nice to have something to go with straight out of the box. I tend to not leave anything alone. I don't think I would mess with a tune beacuse i'm flat out scared of ruinning my engine. I have also noticed that there are a lot of guys that choose to let people who know what they are doing tune their truck instead of the owner of the truck making tunes. That will be very helpfull to me in the begining untill I get a grasp on things. I think for now I will just read and try to find out all the info I can. I will remain a fly on the wall so to speak and learn from the pros. I'm not sure when I will purchase EFI Live but I will make a few phone calls when I'm ready. I'm not trying to waste people's time when I can find the info out myself. Thanks for your time and info.
It's not quite out of the box. It requires you to install EFILive and download your stock tune. You then email this to your vendor so that they can create a custom tune specifically for your truck. Once you get an email back from them with the modified tune you can then install it on your truck.

Take you time in making a decision - in addition to downloading our software, download a couple of tunes from the tune library (both stock and modified) to see what other users are doing.

Cheers

I'm computer retarded and I think the biggest issue is giong to be with emailing and getting the tunes sent and setup and using the computer. I can copy and paste but anything past that is slightly scetchy at best. I'll have my wife do it I guess.

Its not hard. I just made a folder on my desktop for my tunes and when i wanna send a tune i make the email then add it as an attachment. Im sure you could figure it out easy enough

It might take me awhile to get it but I know people who are pretty good on computers so i'm sure they can do it for me. I'll have them walk me thru it.

Just an FYI your wouldn't be the first guy that had to have his wife's help with EFILive:hug: We have had a few ;)

It's pretty funny when the wife doesn't know anything about trucks and the husband doesn't know anything about computers.
I was at Pageland, SC last year for an event and was trying to walk Matt (CamoMax) through some things he could change on his tuning to get more out of it. He called his wife over for me to explain it to her so she could write it down then do it when they got home.

As far as emailing tunes back and forth it is really easy, just attach it to an email like you would a picture.

Just ask Ross about the time he got Pat to write him a custom tune for an LLY we had come to our house to tune. After 4 attempts which failed, Ross doing lots of cursing thinking there was something wrong with his development software I got talking to the customer about his LB7:eek: Only then did the penny drop

In Ross's defence, Duramax's are pretty rare out here. In our city of 2 million people, I'd guess that I've seen less than 15 over the last 3 or 4 years, so visual differences mean nothing to us.

Did you say "who the F is this Dustin guy, never talked to him before in my life" LOL. I knew I should have remembered his wife's name and was thinking it was Kelly (same as my fiance) but didn't want to get it wrong. Matt is a good guy, glad you are helping him out on the truck, with some tweaks it oughta be fun until it blows, I saw it running 7.5s (1/8 mile) on a shitty 60' time on a very cold track.
