Guys,

I already have an edge and im building the trans now. Can you purchase just a tune from someone or do you have to have the software and tuner from efi? Im not familiar with it.

Unless you purchase a replacement ecm thats been tuned on the bench you need to have the software and efi live interface to load tunes into your existing ecm. Its not all that hard to do and cheaper than the edge stuff.

Like muscletruck03 said buy the program, if its too much for your budget find a good friend with a duramax and share the cost thats what I did. The problem with paying for a tune only is when you want to change it you have to go back to that person everytime.

Buy efi most vendors will supply you with a tune. sell your edge to help offset the cost a little.

Definitely not true. You have to be dealing with the wrong people.
Your correct, I feel guilty having called Dustin so many times for changes and he never charges. But on the other hand I'm getting ready to get him to install a S466 on my truck and after the service he's given me on EFI no one else could get my business! So I guess what goes around comes around.

Yeah most tuners understand that the tune they build you and send while they may be specific for your vehicle but with out actually driving the truck changes may be needed. Its customer service at its finest.

ya most tuners do not all call some tuner's talk to them tell them what your intentions are and ask what they will do for about tweaking the tunes for your needs that way you cant go wrong

X2 , but to be fair to tuners sometimes it depends on a few things , if the tune was purchased then 100% yes , but if i sell a guy a set of twins or do a trans I will usually include a tune , I will not support that free tune for ever though ;)
