What is the risk when trying to do a full flash with EFI?

I have an LLY of my friends that I have been trying to load a tune in but the damn thing won't let me. It's like theres something wrong with the ECM. I either get bootloader rejected (which I know is common with LLY) or it says ECM is in unknown stait, our it will freeze up while trying to load new tune and already erased ECM's memory. Which is where I am at right now truck won't turn over can't get tune loaded. Last time I tried and it and it did this we had to tow it into the dealer and have them reflash it.

Should I try and Fullflash?? I have diconnected the batteries and tried to start after awhile and still nothing. I am pretty much F#cked again.

Thanks
Mike

Do a full flash with the stock op system

make sure there is no edge or sat radio hooked for now

uncheck high speed when you select the full flash,You need the op system to full flash or you are fubared

Theres nothing wrong with it. Just make sure you are flashing in the correct os as a full flash will let you flash whatever. Like said above try stock os then reflash the tune in norrmally.

Also make sure batts are charged up. make sure there is power and enough voltage at obd port. Make sure nothing what so ever is communicating.

My prob will lly was getting the efi to marry to the ECM. What helped me was to print off the efi connection from efi live and follow it to a tee. I did that and it eliminated my probs. Efi live website was a saver that I had forgotten all about

Sometimes doing a "Read PCM Calibrations" will bring it out of it's "dead" state...

Interesting I will give that a try. The thing is though even when I tried to read his stock tune the first time it took me prolly over 20 tries before it even took and finally read it. I have tried prolly another 20 or more times to load the new tune and it won't take. It just seems like there is something wrong with it

have you got it to start after trying to read/flash 20 times lol?

Do you have a volt meter? Do you have a batt charger?

Are you 100% sure there is enough power at the port?

did you check all fuses. Under hood too?

Usually started it back up after every couple failed attempts

Yes, Yes

I don't know why there wouldn't be, batteries seem to have ton of power

No,........ I did just remember that he has a fuzz buster that goes to the fuse panel on the door it's in with another fuse. Would this bother? He never had this when I got the stock tune and was having trouble

disable radar detector.

does he have an alarm? or anything tied into the elec. ystem or obd port?

Wes' LLY had an alarm and it was taped right into the back of the obd port. wouldnt take a tune, would freeze up until we disconnected that wire.

disable all that and then try a normal flash again. A full flash prolly wont work if you freeze up in the middle of a normal flash...
