EFI and PPE

I have a PPE as well as EFI can I down load my PPE tunes and modd them with EFI then load them in my truck? Are the tunes VIn locked?

You would have to put the tune in your truck then read the tune with EFI live and then change it and put it back in.

Yes you can download it from your truck then modify it but every time you open it there will be a screen saying it is copyrighted.

Not if you take a stock tune and compare to the PPE and then adapt all the differences to the stock tune. Or script it and run the script over a stock tune. I got tired of that copyright pop-up:D.

As far as I know, it's possible to do it with any of the handheld programmers. Weather it's "right" or legal is a bit of a grey area if you own the programmer in question.... Now if you where to read them out and sell them, then that's flat out wrong....

I read out the PPE tunes, modified them a little (to correct for my modded LBZ regulator, add rumble idle and turbo brake and disable various DTC's) and ran the modified tunes on my LLY until I sold the programmer and did the LBZ swap. Now that I've done the LBZ swap, I'll be buying a 450-something RWHP (unless he has something bigger :)) tune from IdahoRob for it and have no need for any of the "canned" tunes.
