Hello everyone. Edge has been kind enough to warranty the past 3 Pyro probes for my Duramax. I have a Edge Evolution monitor for gauges and a Edge pyro for EGT's. I had the truck for 3 years, first 2 pyro's have been reading stupid high, truck would be at idle reading 2000 degrees. Now the third pyro has lasted 2 months and is ready extreamly low. At idle reading 90 degrees when its typically around 250. Where can I get a half decent replacement pyro that will plug into my Edge Evolution??? OR can I splice something into the existing edge pyro harness???

**** edge. I get penalized for having a pyro that actually lasted 2 years so they won't warranty it. they are garbage regardless.

My ISSPRO analog EGT gauge has been working flawlessly since I installed it 4 years ago. It is always on, always right there at eye level. I live by it when I'm towing, especially in the mountains. Hard to understand how a simple K type thermocouple can be prone to failure, but I guess Edge has figured out how to do it.....

Yeah there has to be a different gauge that can utilize the cts monitor but with a non edge branded egt.

Only concern is I would have to get one with same thread pitch as my exhaust manifold hole for the probe.
There are generally only two NPT thread sizes used for probes in exhaust manifolds, 1/8"-27 NPT or 1/4"-18 NPT. Odds are good that you can find a better probe that will fit what you have. If yours is 1/4" you can get a reducer to fit a 1/8". It's easy to enlarge and retap if it's too small.

That's odd. I got a used edge pyro with a used evolution years ago. Sold the evo and replaced with an insight and the pyro has been fine for the 3 years I've had it, on top of however old it was when I got it

8+ year old Autometer pyro here. The gauge has been buried multiple times and it's still tickin. Would Autometer be a compatible replacement?

Edge tells me its because one of my engine grounds is poor but that wouldn't explain why it is damaging the EGT probe and the EGT probe only?!

It wouldn't be a bad idea to check all my grounds anyhow but I find this really hard to believe......

Sounds like BS to me. I'm not familiar with Edge probes but a thermocouple doesn't use electrical ground for anything, there should only be two wires for the TC junction and they are isolated from ground.

Two types of probes, you're talking about a K type probe and when installed into the manifold that is a dirty ground.

Edge Products 98603 EAS Expandable with EGT Starter Kit Cable CS and CTS.

Edge 98601 EGT Cable, this is the type K coupler...

Take a look at B-14-15-16 for the different types of grounds, this is minus the internal polarity grounds of the TCM. BCM, ECM Radio etc.

Not having EGT prob problems but my CS is starting to act up. About every third time I drive the truck it won't read boost. I know it is not the sensor as the turbo is responding, truck has power with no black smoke. Anyone else having a similar problem???
