Ok so I sell an item, auction closed at 160 bucks. They buyer paypaled the money plus the shipping amount due. Item was sent. tracking was imputed into paypal. Heres the catch. Paypal holds the funds hostage until ebay buyer leaves positive feedback, or 21 days if no dispute happens. Well I email the guy and say leave positive feedback and he says "yea no problem" and everything looked good. Well, he still hasn't left feedback. He has like 1 positive feedback and never left feedback to the other person he bought from (not as far as I can tell). So, I basically have to wait 21 days to get my money!!!! What a crock. Not to mention he wanted expensive shipping with insurance that cost 42 bucks to ship across the country (which is also held in the funds too), had to buy bubble wrap and a nice big box, I am already down about 50 bucks plus my time and wont see a return on this for 21 days.

Anyone else ever deal with this crap?

Oh and when did it become so damn expensive to sell on ebay, they hit me about 18 bucks for the insert and final value. Then add the 3% paypal fee

if you have the guy send it as a "gift" the 3% isnt added in i found out but i dunno how that would work if there was a dispute over it or if htey changed it recently. last time i did it that way (three months ago) it worked out great

To avoid fees you can have the people send the money as a gift and nobody will be charged. Or I say that they can pay the additional 3%

Yea that works good sometimes, Be careful, if you do it often, they will catch on and send you an email saying "you are using it to much that we will remove that option" oops.

as for ebay though, you cant, its all linked together and automatically runs it.

I have sold tons of junk on Craigs List, I give them a phone number to call me, I meet them at a gas station about 1 mile from my house and make the transaction there.

Ebay has gone down hill...

The good ol days you could actually find deals... and when "someone" (not a business) had an item on ebay.. they actually had the item... it's not some drop ship crap thats on back order for a few months (been there several times).

Not to mention how expensive it is!

X2 or 3 on craigslist. That's what I've been using. But I know what ur saying about only selling in ur area. It should let you do a region or something of that sort

I've had people buy stuff from me on craigslist from the other side of the country before now that there is a few search engines that you search all of CL at the same time. EBAY lost my business last year when I put a boat engine for sale. I put in the ad that it was for sale locally(as it was listed on CL), and EBAY ended my ad AND kept over $100 in fees from me for the ad. I list on CL ONLY now(and forums if I'm a member of an appropriate one for it).

Thanks for this thought Mike we had a buyer screw us on a ebay sale. and eaby took the money back and we could not fight it no pass go cause they closed the user name because they banned me over stupid crap that was not from me thread on here about it. 60 days after the sale and he left postive feed back and they still gave him a full refund because my account was banned what gives.I have the guys address and phone number he lives in TN area looking to get back at him for this.

Ebay just changed they rules on how they handle the money they treat it like amazon.com now and hold the money for 20 some days on all sales. so you can buyt something now get it and leave bad feed back or hell any the way I got screwed and you can say you shipped the item back or did not get it and also get your money back in full.

Nope have good history with ebay and paypal. Sold and purchased things before never had that happen, all of a sudden this came up.

Just did a search on it though.. You must have at least 100 positive feedbacks.

But I also read that if I print the shipping label through paypal, the fee would be from the held funds so thats good to know.

Could be worse.....some people actually buy an item....pay through paypal.....and if YOU the seller does NOT get the shipping that makes them sign for it......they can file a dispute.....and if you can't show a signature.....they keep the item, and get their money back after like 20-30 days....
