Well me E Locker is in the mail.

what tips do i need for installation. Should I get any other manuals besides the factory ones that i currently have??

front locker right? I don't think they make one for the rear yet right?

gonna bench it or do it in truck?

front one, found a gbreat price on a new one, just under 800 shipped cant remember the site.

I havent decided, which way is easier im assuming the bech. I have a car lift and all the necessary tools to drop it out so I will probably do it that way.

I cant wait to see how much it helps out.

We benched it i thought it was the easier way. Perhaps some with first hand experience trying/doing it in truck will pipe in.

I can say the following with certainty.

It's a big heavy cumbersome MF'r, 2 men will serve you well. Watch out for the servo/sensor (whatever it is) on the front its made of plastic and isn't as tough as it looks. IIRC- the upper mounting bolt will IMO come out easier from the fender well drivers side. I took mine out from the top, you may have to loosen the motor mount to get it out from the bottom. It kinda spins out of the hole it doesn't drop srtaight down IIRC. Put most/all the fluid in it before you put it back in.

Good luck, $800 is not a bad price congrats!

if you go into my DP garage you can see where i drilled the hole for the wires. the hole kinda touched one of the alum spines of teh pumpkin but not enough to cause any problems. i also had originally pulled teh wires very taught and it didnt want to engage, so i pushed them in a bit maybe a 1/4" and it works fine now. do it on a bench. and you need to carefully pull the bearings so they don't separate and you can reuse them, you'll need a press.

Ill plan on doing it on the bench like I originally did.

I have a press so thats no issue.

Are there any clearances/tolerances i need to check at all or not??

It's an entire new carrier, so you can't count on it being identical to the stocker. So to answer your question, yes your going to have to check the gear mesh and so forth. There are also a few special tools needed to do the adjusting.

i just checked my account and the transaction hasnt completed yet, so ill quick see if i can cancel it.

what a crappy place i ordered it from, you get their answering machine and it just says call back during regular hours, no voicemail. Ill call in the morning and cancel it.

I wouldve liked to have it hear by this weekend but its really not that big of a deal if I get to save over a hundred bucks.

where do i get these special tools and specs?? Will my factory manuals have them?? I guess I never checked.

Would a dealer have these tools or is it another part they only replace and dont fix. If its something they may have i will be fine. i have a great relationship with them.

If you have the Helms manuals there, is everything in there needed, including tool part numbers.

I'd get a master install kit with it. It will have all the bearings and a new pinion seal and nut. I never reuse the old pinion nut. Only for setup. It's always a good idea to have new bearings on hand just incase you munch one. You might as well put new stuff in there because it's out and it's easier to do it then than to pull it out again later. I always grind the case out where the pinion bearing oil "passage" is (for lack of a better term). This will help get plenty of oil to it. It's very important to do this with a truck that has been lifted and the diff is clocked for the driveline angle. Grab axle seals as well. I use the GM ones from a dealer, they usually have them in stock.

i just got my locker also and am gettin ready to install. my truck is lifted. i got mine fot 650 shipped i got a good deal. hoewever i heard you have to weld somethin to the case to keep the magnet from spinin. is this true. what else should i expect?

well I called up those guys and they were great to work with so I didnt worry about sending it back.

They said I shouldnt need new bearings, but new seals are a good idea.

Also said not to go by the factory specs, take meaqsurements before dissasembly then compare once assembled within a tolerance i forgot.
