Duramaz EXCab/shortbed 4x4 vs 2x4 frames

Long story short bought a 04 duramax ex cab short bed which i thought had bad injectors. Turns out its got bad engine. Looking to buy an immaculate 03 shortbed extended cab. Only difference is its not 4x4. Could i take off trans componens from other truck and directly bolt them to the non 4x4 without major surgery

You can swap the parts into the 2wd frame and make it 4x4.. it's been done a many of times

There'll be fabricating involved. It's not just a bolt in affair. Honestly would be easier to do body swap probably.

There is? What needs fabbed? Pretty sure my 2wd had everything there to bolt the 4x4 pieces into

You have to cut a couple holes in the frame & weld in sleeves to mount the front differental
If you do a suspension lift you only have to add a sleeve for the front PS mount

Thata on a 2500 hd mine thought duramax 6.6 and 2500hd frame was different

noreaster tree'd me.


No difference in the 2500HD frame and the duramax frame. Engine mounts and cross members and such are different on the gassers 2500hd but not the frame itself.
