Big blocks (cast iron block) weigh in about 600-700 depending on how they are dressed and options. Dmax engines are 900-1100 depending on what you call "dressed". All without the Allison

The 6.5 was essentially a modified small block. Same ballpark weight as a small block.

The allison weighs 330 dry. 4L80E about 150 dry.

A 6.5 weighs in around 675 IIRC with a turbo. It definately isn't based off a small block as I've got one sitting out in the shop, but I'll agree it isn't quite asd large as a big block. An iron block 454 vortec is said to weigh around 750 or so. I know that the DMAX/ALLISON package only adds 275 pounds over a 6.5/4L80E package as both myself and Gordon just down the road from me have both done DMAX swaps in our GMT-400 SUBURBANS, and we both saw weight gains of about 275-300 pounds for both trucks. I know the ALLISON is about 150 pounds of that weight gain as well. When I was researching my swap the weight I found for an LB7 was right around 825 pounds which supports my weight gains after the swap.

from what ive found its 820 fully dressed and im using the 4l80e not the allison so there will be some freed up HP from the less rotational mass and weight loss

Thefermanator got any tips on the wireing harness

Well, I guess if Woods can fit a Dmax into a Fox-body Mustang then you can fit it into that Camaro. Sure is going to be an interesting car when you're done. Youve got a LOT of fab work ahead of you. Good luck.

GM says the duramax weighs 837lbs, FWIW. Even fully dressed with AC compressor, power streering pump etc I would be VERY surprised if it was more than 900lbs.

Cool project. Something I would like to do when I get some space in the garage. I can see the torque numbers being an issue with the chassis.

I was thinking the same thing. that may cure his firewall clearance issues.

I want to do a compound setup and keep the stock one there for now it will clear the hood and be perfectly in line for the scoop on the ss hood so I might fab up a new intake horn and filter box and pull straight from the scoop if that works out ill look into a larger turbo if not then ill do a compound setup or something along those lines where 2 turbos are involved

Plus, the hydroboost works better than the vacuum boost IMO. That, and you don't have to worry about keeping the vacuum pump (unless you need it for A/C controls in the cab).
