Yeah just seems strange to me that they spent to much time, effort, and money and didn't do some of the most obvious mods. Regardless if that really is a low 10s GTR he is pulling on that is really impressive. Makes me want to do something similar with a built motor/trans, twin pumps, and twin turbos.

Yeah, I'm puzzled. Plus how difficult it must have been to squeeze an ally under there.

At least a mild build with rods, pistons, and trans.

Assuming its 4500lbs or less, they'd only need 580rwhp at the most to get a mid-10 (assuming the truck can launch).
Thats do-able with a stock shortblock -- hell, most of you guys would be telling newbies they could run their trucks that way. :rolleyes:
Not that I'd recommend it to others, but thats how much power I was running thru mine before, well...you know....
Light weight would allow the stock trans to live longer behind that power level, too. Not sure how much longer, though.

Geezus guys, it probably weighs 4000lbs. I tried finding that info on their Facebook and website, but they arent forthcoming. Yeah, it probably weighs closer to 4000lbs. It was a WAG. So that means they'd could make around 550rwhp to make the number, provided they could hook.
I was trying to make the point that a built motor was unnecessary to run that number....


Whatever the particulars, that is one bad ass build. Wish GM would do things like that from the factory. V6 diesel in a Colorado would have been great.

That's a lot of work to get it to fit. Firewall and transmission tunnel all chopped up, plus the frame strengthening. Fun project for sure but isn't a firewall modification illegal to be street driven? Correct me if I'm wrong.

A Duramax and 2WD Allison isn't 1100 lbs heavier than the stock Colorado drivetrain, it's probably about 1100 lbs.

Doesnt a fully dressed D-max engine weigh in at close to 930lbs..?
And doesnt an Allison weigh in at 320lbs...?

Thats 1250lbs

The I-6 probably weighs in somewhere around 400lbs
And the 4L60 weighs in somewhere around 200...
For an est. total of 600lbs

So the D-max/Alli swap is close to 2x the weight
But yeah, its not 1000lbs MORE than the stock Rado engine/drivetrain

Like Tom said, its total vehicle weight is probably right around 4000lbs
550whp and 1000ft lbs tq....4000lbs= 7.3lbs per 1whp, and 4lbs per ft lb tq=:thumb:

Still, its an imoressive little truck!
