The LBZ pistons in Casper were just decked and coated. They had lips, yet didn't crack. We know that on LLY/LB7's the crack starts at the lip, so we now cut it off as a preventive measure.

I agree with you bud. I've been known to squeeze a butt load of air out of some pretty small chargers. I've even had the opportunity to push one of your 70mm turbo's over 50psi. When it comes to testing, I test as well. This thread started with a question about injector size and all. I have experience with that as explained in earlier posts. I just haven't had the time to add my form of steak.

Who eles can pull 42 pounds out of a stock VV turbo:eek:

I haven't had the opportunity to read the entire thread but I'll take time to read it..

I need to get Larry into an actual 70mm cheetah.. he's rockin' the 4094 67.8mm one right now.. and they don't like 50psi too well.. for long at least

But grab a beer and we'll drink and eat steak!

On with the tech.

Oh, ok. I thought he was sold the 70mm. Atleast that is what I was told. At the time, we were told we could not reach that boost number, or maybe it was that it had not been done at that time? Anyway, I have the steak but no beer. I have pop corn.

And i have beer but no Steak WTF:mad:

Well in the beginning they were marketed as 70mm's so that other mfg's wouldn't notice the wheel size and be clued in as to what it was made from.. But elite diesel cut and pasted the compressor maps straight from Garrett's site onto theirs so that pretty much gave it away.

So.. the 64mm Cheetah is a Variable 4088, and the old 70 is a 4094. Now I have 70 (2.8) and 76.2 (3.0) comp wheels. So I had to change the names.. Pretty cornfusing ...

Larry knew what he was getting though.

Why are we discussing my turbo in an injector thread, we got way off topic, but since my turbo is the topic of discussion in the last few pages, maybe i should add to it; Yes, I knew what he was getting and am happy with my decision to get it, I knew what the compressor wheel was from the get go and it does exactly as it was intended. Now that there are bigger variety's of this turbo out there, ie; the 76mm, I would like to try one of those from Brayden, I have also tossed around the idea of MPI Twins with the Cheetah as the stock turbo, no matter what I do though, there will always be a Cheetah under the hood.

How about going back to the injector discussion now.

Are you the same guys that sell the injector nozzles for the LLY's? I know I for one would love to get some hard technical data out of an injector manufacturer/distributor/supplier. Trying to get information out of ATS is like pulling teeth, and then the information you do get doesn't have any technical data to support the claims. Just my 2c as a guy who already bought injectors though...

but honestly pat, I don't think you can say that more can't be achieved with bigger ones in your application without trying them... the MDEs don't count, too many others had trouble with them as well.

Not saying you will but to continuously say the stockers are good enough is a bit much when you don't really know if bigger ones may make more or make the same amount while being easier on parts....

whatcha think???

I want to apologive for posting in negative manner towards volker and mde. It has been brought to my attention that I am likely in error on my account of number of customers with volkers injectors that have had trouble. Sorry for hastily posting false info.

Carry on.....

Everybody knows that I like to share my knowlage as best I can, I might not have all the infos, but just go on and ask.

Mitch, thanks for standing up and correct yourself.
I know that happens to everybody and is not a big deal for me. I just want that everybody is safisfied with the products I sold.

If you guys ask, I'm not in the diesel performance anymore and don't test/blueprints also, but I'm still here to give you my 2ct's whether it's worth or not.

Not an issue now though.. He'll have a real 70mm soon :D

Question for Volker... What's your take on adding injector flow. More small holes or larger stock holes? Can you EDM up some 10 hole injectors ?

As I said, no more performance, but here what my nozzles did/still do. I had a 10 holes nozzles with the a smaller as stock hole diameter. My 10 holes 29% LLY has 10 x 0.0147 mm diameter (Stock 7x 0.0155 mm) or the 39% over with 12x0.0153 in 2 banks and 2 different angles 1 bank with 158 deg and second some degrees smaller to hit the bowl earlier in the piston stroke.

Best result with nozzles: high pressure + small holes = best atomization
I think Pat already explained you what atomization is, with the small diesel drops which gives more surface, more surfaces sucks more heat out the combustion champers ....

But there are some restriction here: high pressure: the CP3 just brings pressure safely up to 2000 bar which is 29400 psi for a longer durability. Also I'm afraid to see a CP3 pump broke or stocked and the gears running up the cam gear brrrrrrrr..... not good. Guys stay under the 29400 psi (problem by BMW and cost over $4000)

More restriction? Some say that when you put more holes in it its more risk that the tip falls off, I calculated my areas and I'm by 10% less area by 29% more flow. Also we made nozzles with 38 holes over 3 banks ... for a race team and never had a problem.

Hope that helps for the beginning, cheers :alcoholic:
