Figured I'd share my little project here since it's finally nearing completion (well, drivability anyway, lol)

This is a 2001 S10 dash that I modified to go into the '85 cab and to accept the '05 Duramax cluster as though it was factory.

It also has a full-size column with the Tow/Haul switch. :thumb: I bought the rest of the interior from a 2000 model last weekend also, I figured I might as well finish the whole inside out with the newer stuff.

Here is a really boring video starting it up, but I was sure glad to here it run.

How much room is there between the Turbo and the firewall? Sweet build I remember when You put it on dp And wondered if you had finished it yet or not.

Thanks for all of the positive comments guys!

More than you would think, the S10 was built with a 4 cylinder as an option, so they have a recessed area in the center that helps where the turbo is. It's closest at the rear of the heads, very much so on the drivers side. I gained most of the room needed by going forward with the radiator,A/C and intercooler.

I almost got the tailhousing of the Allison and the VSS bung ready to be welded together Saturday. Hopefully I'll be able to get it welded up this week, then it just needs a tranny cooler/fan and lines mounted.......somewhere, and it should be ready for a test drive.

Figured I'd throw up an update on this never ending project, lol. It still isn't road worthy yet, but it's getting closer. I decided to remove all of the interior and add PLENTY of heat and sound deadening material to it after welding up all of the unused holes in the floor and firewall. I'm stone deaf in my right ear, so I'm trying to make it so that I can actually have a conversation at highway speeds...

Then I topped all of that off with an good sealed layer of mass loaded vinyl and reinstalled all of the interior, Vintage Air, wiring etc.. Haven't got the new carpet yet.

Then I built a new trans/transfer case cross-member that didn't look like a butchered after thought like the last one.

And I decided to go with a different set of shocks since I never approved of the last set as they were stiffer up front than they needed to be, so I redesigned the shock mounts up front.

I got the VSS sensor and reluctor ring all figured out and added to the tail housing of the 4wd Allison along with a "my version" of a tail housing brace.

Here is where/ how the tranny cooler had to go due to space constraints...

Beyond that stuff, I picked up the complete head light harness and tail light harnesses (complete with trailer and gooseneck harnesses) from another '05 Silverado and was able to weed out all of what it didn't need and convert it from there to the '85 S10 head lights, tail lights, turns, brakes and backup lights. It even has auto headlights now, lol. I do still have to finish the rear harness by adding the fuel sending unit wires, the trans cooling fan wires and the air-ride stuff before I loom and install it. I got the LBZ Kodiak mouth piece on it so it will breath a little better and actually allow the hood to shut...

Still have to make new upper rear shock mounts, add a bung to the lower radiator hose for the heater hose, finish installing the head-light and tail light looms, check all the hardware and fluids and it will be ready for a test drive! Lots more to do, but it will be fun to get to drive it a little.

Thanks guys!

I have a thread on Pirate, but I don't update very often, lol. They aren't as crazy about rigs that still have sheetmetal...

It has a 4-link up front, it's just tough to see the upper links since they come off of the inside of the frame. I made the lower links a little beefy so they would support the weight of the truck in the rocks.
