Hey guys it seems like I am hearing about a few storys in reguards to head gaskets so it's got me a little worried. I've got an 05 lly with about 120,000 kms and is pretty much stock still running a stock tune now as of right now it's still a daily drive and I'm wondering is there anyway to prevent this ?
No guarantee, but pulling the bolts and dropping studs in couldn't hurt your odds. Studs will clamp a little better and be torqued a little more accurately than bolts. If you haven't popped a HG now, it couldn't hurt to do the swap. Wish I had... mighta made the stock gaskets last a little longer. Keeping the motor stock will definitely increase the longevity of the gaskets and the motor, but it still seems hit or miss as even stock truck have popped HG's. Take it for what its worth, studs aren't cheap but they won't do anything but help.
